The photos in here are amazing (color and B&W). As a biography this could have been better. The text is bland and not that interesting. If you're an Audrey Hepburn fan then I recommend this solely for the photos (I love her changing hairstyles!).
OK this one is actually better! It had substantially more material and focused on the main interesting points of her career, not just her physical appearance. (Although that of course featured prominently.) This book actually discusses her partnership with Givenchy, her traumatic experiences hiding from Nazis, her miscarriages, the My Fair Lady drama with Julie Andrews, and other important moments from her life.
I’m a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn and have read many books about her life. The photos in the book are lovely and present some behind the scenes views into her life. I’m not sure how accurate some of the commentary is and it borders on hearsay and gossip in my opinion. I also believe there are significant gaps in her life story missing from the book. If it had been a story just about her acting career perhaps that would make sense but weaving in family stories too...it just felt a little unbalanced to me. It’s a beautiful table book that I can pull out and look at the stunning photos of Audrey.
I loved seeing all the photos, but Krenz took every opportunity she could to mention affairs and other sordid details which made the whole book feel kind of skeezy.
When I was younger, Audrey Hepburn was my idol. I loved everything about her. I used to read this book over and over again. I had seen all of her movies and I found this book to be extremely interesting. It really expands on her life before her acting career and after it. Learning about her life gave me a lot of respect for her. She is far greater than just her beauty and talent, she is an incredible women with an incredible story that should be learned.
A charming book about a lovely lady. I bought it as a coffee table-type book & I think it'll work fairly well for that. It has lots of nice pictures & enough "story" to add extra interest. There are a few parts of the story of Audrey's life that I was unaware of, bits that are a little sad, but it was interesting to read. While my preference would be for a coffee table book to not have sad stuff, I still think the book lovely enough & innocuous enough that it can be displayed for guests.
Beautiful selection of pictures but writing is worst than what you would find on a Wikipedia page that has been edited buy anyone who bothered to do it,
