This was a thought provoking little book on turn of the last century architecture. It offers some sold suggestions on how to set up your house so you get the best use of sunlight, east facing bedrooms and west facing living rooms.
It also suggests some pretty radical commune ideas like having a common bath house, wash house, (an early laundromat) meeting room, eating area (cafeteria) as well as a defense of open areas. They put out a pretty good case for not a lot of fussy tiny rooms; parlor, sitting room, formal dining and breakfast nook, but rather open rooms that are actually useful by the whole family.
The illustrations of interiors looked dark and clunky to me, more medieval than practical. I'm personally more of fan of Stickley and Greene and Green furniture, but that's just me.
