Easily five stars, especially in this primo format. Neil Gaiman lightly adapts Norse myths so that they retain their clever twists and clear morals, while being crisp and amusing. And of course the art is fantastic.

The tome, which is heavy and gorgeous and wonderful to touch, starts with the weird creation of everything and ends with Ragnarok. There's a gentle narrative touch (Loki's misadventures get worse and worse over time), but most of the stories seem standalone. This isn't the Asgard of the Marvel comics... but oddly, it's not that far off.

Super thankful to my library for randomly ordering this $100+ edition?? I'm glad I was the first person to read it - feeling sad for how beat up it's going to be in a few months/years.

Based on Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology book this graphic novel adaption is a nice platform into the stories in his book, and the ones you will find in Scandanavian mythologies that you might come across. Unlike the book, the comic versions only take snippets of the stories and keep it simple without too much narrative. The stories are well drawn and coloured and the different stories in this collection are done by different comic artists, brought together with P. Craig Russell leading the way.

Having read loads and loads of comics and graphic novels this isn't the best I've had in front of me, but it's still decent. It acts as good looking platform into the subject of Norse Mythology. I intend using these when my nephew and niece are old enough to get them going on their own lifelong comic loving journey (hopefully at least any way!!)

This collection comprises of 3 volumes, and as a rating I'm going with 3 out of 5.

The graphic novel adaptation of Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman is an outstanding achievement and an ideal entry point into a rich and complex mythological tradition.

What stands out most is how effectively the artwork transforms what could otherwise feel like dense, fragmented material into something fluid, engaging, and deeply understandable. Norse mythology, with its many characters, interwoven stories, and unfamiliar cosmology, can be difficult to follow in traditional text form. Here, the visual storytelling brings clarity and cohesion, allowing each myth to unfold in a way that feels both accessible and immersive.

The illustrations give form to the gods, giants, and cosmic events in a way that reinforces the tone of the mythology: at times humorous, and ultimately tragic.

Gaiman’s narrative voice remains intact, preserving the wit, simplicity, and reverence of the original prose, while the graphic format enhances pacing and emotional impact..

For newcomers, this is one of the best ways to experience Norse mythology. For those already familiar, it offers a fresh and visually compelling perspective that deepens appreciation for these timeless stories.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in mythology, storytelling, or simply a beautifully executed graphic novel.

Beautiful art and a glorious edition. I enjoyed the weight of this book as well as the alternate covers and character art. Between the faux leather binding and the runic ribbon, this really feels like reading a tome of legend. Absolutely lovely.

This was so freaking good, stories that made my stomach drop (balder and hodd), some that made me laugh aloud and a lot that caused frustration. All while being beautifully illustrated.

Tales in convenient, newbie-friendly form. Stories contain only the clue without too much details and descriptions. Definietely good and smooth read. Art fits the stories themes perfectly.
