I cackled. I sobbed. 😭

I love this series and I loved the ending to Alina’s story. RL masterfully wrapped up everything, showing us that even the strongest characters can have weaknesses. That it’s okay to not be okay.

And of course, she delivered on the spice. 🫢

I will miss Alina. And Lincoln. Especially Lincoln.

You can’t ask for a better vampire why choose.

I really liked this book. I really liked Alina and her mates' developing relationship and their growing friendships with each other. This was a great end to the series. RTC.

Unfortunately, I found myself skim-reading large parts of this book. Honestly, I was not interested in any part that involved Alina TALKING to her soul sword. Also, the spice could have been better - It seemed like they were always in the shower?

The basis of this series is interesting, but the execution? I don't know. Usually, I wouldn't say I like time jumps in a book, but for this series, I don't understand why there's almost no progression of time. We're at the fourth book - maybe a month has passed since the start of the series, and now she's the Queen? Proposing law changes? Okay.

Most of the side characters are also entirely pointless other than as a way to promote the inter-linked series set in the same world. They’re tagged as Alina’s "friends" that she mentions every now and then after interacting with them once. It’s bizarre and unnecessary.

Overall, not bad. I mostly enjoyed the story and characters - book one and two were great, but I think this happens with these short multi-book series set in a fantasy world: they fall apart as they progress because they lack the early world-building needed to sustain the plot.

I really enjoyed this series, but unfortunately book 4 felt like it was maybe rushed out to meet a release deadline. The story is still good, but this thing absolutely needs to go back through a run with the editor (and if it did go through an editor they need to be fired…). I usually don’t mention grammar/typo issues unless they really interfere with the reading experience and sadly that happened here. It wasn’t just the occasional typo, it was missing words, extra words, incorrect words or phrases, and incorrect word tenses and pluralizations. I felt like I was reading a 3rd draft of the story rather than the final, there are sentences that were very clearly moved around and rewritten without double checking the sentence afterwards. The first 3 books had occasional minor errors, but this one was rough which really leads me to believe this is an issue with cutting editing corners. This author writes well, these are just easy mistakes that any decent editor would have caught and cleaned up.

The story itself had a decent and satisfying conclusion and I really did enjoy this series overall. I was a bit frustrated with Alina in this story and her out of character attitude in the middle of the book was starting to make me mad, but she really pulled through and made me proud in the end. This was an enjoyable series and i sincerely hope the author considers investing in sending this book back through an editor because it’s a shame to have it end on this note.

The only reasons i managed to finish this were that i had nothing better to do and was somewhat invested in the story. The writing as is isnt that bad but the entire thing is just so unrealistic. These four books happen all within the span of two weeks at max, and it’s just filled with characters overanalysing every single fucking thing that happens, completely normal misunderstandings being mistakes to spend your lifetime atoning for, and all characters turning into flat personalities, discernible only by their nicknames for the lead girl 🙃 i know you shouldnt expect much from these kinds of books but still, this was so cringe

I felt like this book was incredibly unnecessary. I skimmed it and didn’t feel like I missed anything. The third book could have been made slightly longer and encompasses all the “action” from this book. It was a lot of “oh my gosh, i can’t believe my mates get along” and “wow, i didn’t realize i could get along with her other mates.” Too much fluff, severely lacking in plot. This series stated out so strong and I had high hopes. Those hopes were not met.

Taking the opportunity to review all four books under the last one.

Overall, I loved the world building and the concept of this series. Slayers vs. Vampires only for a slayer to become a vampire. Alina’s story had a ton of potential and could have made for an incredible work of fiction; however, I feel the series should have been at least two books longer.

Bite of Loyalty introduced Lincoln first and allowed the reader to learn about his character in a steady way. He was brash, broody, independent, but mostly broken. I felt like Lincoln received the perfect introduction. He was the strategist and the ever demanding professor with a control problem ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) While Lincoln handled Alina and his mating process HORRIBLY, his back story made up for it - showing how terrified he was of the situation and how unequipped he was to handle any sort of emotional decisions. The timeline that led to their mating made sense. They got to know each other and had a relationship before anything happened.

Then, Andrei was introduced in a similar way. We were given the popular bad boy who was at the top of his class and quickly shown that he had a VERY different, more vulnerable, side to him. Despite his severe lapse in judgment in Bite of Betrayal, I constantly found myself annotating, “ANDREI IS THE STANDARD >>>>.” He knew when to joke and when to be serious, often times being the glue that held their fucked up rhombus together. Once again, this mating timeline made sense to me. They had a bond and knew it - deciding to fight for their connection rather than ignore it.

However, I hated the way the author just threw Drake into this dynamic out of NOWHERE. His introduction was sudden, Alina’s acceptance was quick, and their mating was even quicker. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Dracula and his lil monster, but I never felt like he was given the proper character development the other two were given. It’s like the author just gave up and didn’t know how to write another mate into the mix, deciding to just throw him out into the open, all the while hoping Alina would catch the bait. I loved how Drake was always the level headed one when it came to decisions and was also single-handedly the biggest romantic of the three mates.

Alina… well, I had a love hate relationship with her. Absolutely loved how independent and headstrong she was despite losing her family/having her entire world flipped upside down in a matter of hours. Despite all this, she was a fucking IDIOT. Her thought process on some things made no goddamn sense — specifically in Bite of Justice when she started freaking out about how her mates weren’t giving her the respect she deserved by backing her every decision about the slayers WHEN ALL THEY SAID WAS THAT SHE SHOULD TAKE TIME TO REST AND THINK OF A PLAN. She practically said they were awful and was ready to put her walls back up… like, no, bitch, you need to calm tf down. Sure, trauma can lead to thinking irrationally, but her thought process made no sense. I also didn’t like the direction the books took after her bond to Dev happened. It was just poorly executed imo.

I hated the way Lo just randomly was given a mate and her character was yeeted from the story until the last 50ish pages. My girl deserved better.

Alexandra was also another character who I felt was thrown into the story with no care whatsoever. The author never developed her character or relationship with Alina; yet, somehow, they were practically family. I understand she has her own series, but this friendship was whacky.

DIA was supposed to be a stepping stone for her that should have lasted more than one book in my opinion. Alina should have developed her relationship with Lincoln/Andrei, along with her knowledge on the other sectors, as well as building her skills to continue to the top of the points system. This gives time to develop DIA, Estrid, and Vic more instead of throwing them out there and forgetting about them later on in the series. Personally, I think introducing Dracula at the end of book two would’ve made more sense. This would’ve given an entire book to develop Alina’s trust in Drake as well as get to know him and his board properly.

Don’t even get me started on the ending of the series with the slayers. You’re telling me that the entire buildup of the series led to a solution after ONE fucking meeting??? Where was the epic fight? Rebellion on both sides from those who disagreed with the merge? WHAT ABOUT ASTAROTH?! So many characters were thrown into the mix just to be used and abused (sorry, Serena). The planning and pacing of this series was mediocre at best and I cannot comprehend how this series has such high ratings.

By the end of Bite of Justice, I was bored of the story, tired of the characters, and wanted the climax to happen… just for it to edge me 😂

The Blood Oath series had SO much potential to be a five star read, but missed the mark on key details, especially the writing style itself.

I’m sorry, but I still can’t get over that “roses are red,” bullshit Alina said in book one 💀 Unfortunately, that shit kept appearing in the next three books.

Did I enjoy the series? Yes.
Do I wish the author would’ve put more time and effort into the writing process? Yes.

Anyway… Andrei is THE standard and I’ll stand behind that. I’m not even into this sorta thing, but I could’ve done without Alina, and just had her three mates get together. They were far more interesting and carried the story for me.

'The Rest of Eternity'

This book takes off literally right where book three left off. Its a road filled with emotions on if Lo will make it or not. Having to rely on the witches is a nightmare that Alina and Drake were not prepared for. But fate, as always, throughout this series, has a way of presenting itself and brings with it, a fated mate no one was expecting.

When the deed is done - Alina now fully realizes how powerful she is and can become. Now that she has helped her mates face their demons start new beginnings, she has one final fight of her own. Alina's thirst for vengeance is all-consuming and she wants more than ever to get revenge for her family. Will she be able to take the Slayers on knowing what they mean to her? Her need to fulfill her blood oath comes to a screeching halt when her mates, Drake, Andrei, and Lincoln come together to get her to slow down and finally process everything she has been through and to think of the consequences.

With learning to forgive and feeling so loved she cant help but live in a constant state of happiness, Alina ascends into the woman and Queen everyone sees her as.

"I dreamed of a society where no one had to live in fear."

The conclusion of this book is shear perfection. The author ends it so perfectly, you absolutely love everything about it. The steam is great. The storyline is inspiring and the characters are amazing. I loved this series and the way it ended. Hopefully we can see more of these characters in the future series!!!

'Fated to change the world.'

I can’t believe that this is the end of the series. I’ve come to really enjoy Drake, Alina, Andrei, and Lincoln. Lincoln is the one that I feel I know the least, and I wish I had gotten to get to know him better. But this last book in the series made me cry, laugh, sweat, and all kinds of emotions in between. Alina has grown so darn much from the beginning book to the end, and her men have really come to cherish and love her. It was just so touching, and Andrei and Drake changed so much, too. Again, I wish I had known Lincoln a little better. This is a great ending for this series, and there are so many good things at the end. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

So many emotions! But the main one is gutted that this series has come to an end, but it’s been lovely to see the characters grow especially Alina.
I think it was definitely a great ending to the Alina’s story.
This book like the previous books was full of drama and action. But I’m glad they eventually got a HEA!

Blergh.

I just can’t.

This entire series bummed me out. I wanted to love Alina and her guys but they never had that chemistry. From page one she was an atrocious spoiled self centered idiot.
That never changed.

The timing for this series is bizarre. I guess it follows the other ones in this world, but it doesn’t feel the same.

Are you ready for a rollercoaster ride of a book? Well, ready or not...here we go!
Alina is back in Bite of Justice. As you can tell by the name, the end is here. How will it all pan out? Will EVERYONE get their happy ending? Well, the answer...more than likely. LOL! Hey, I gotta make you wonder just a little bit don't I? LOL!
Well, this book picks up where the last left off and for the most part things are off to the races. Alina is working herself to the bone, and the guys are worried about (as they should be). It's understandable though because she has more than just a quest for vengeance, and the time is coming sooner to achieve it. But she wants a better world for all. Pretty noble of her, right? Well, it's a lot of drama, chaos, and yes, cue emotional moments so make sure you have a box of tissues nearby. You're going to need a few.
I enjoyed this book for the most part, but I felt that some of the steamy scenes were just...there to be there. I love a good steamy scene, but I would have loved more drama and especially more twists. Keep me on my toes! Surprise me! Pull me to the edge of my seat and keep me there!
All in all, it's a good ending to the series.

I love all the series in the Dark Imaginarium Academy Universe but I was especially excited to discover how this series was gonna end. So much has happened in the first three books and it really feels like the heroine and her guys have so much yet to do to get their happily ever after. Luckily my arc for this book came in last week and it was the perfect book to accompany me today on my way to work and back home.

This finale is everything I had hoped this finale to be. There is a lot of angst in the first three books and a lot has gone wrong but in this book things are finally going right. Of course that doesn't mean it's all easy. Our characters really have to fight for everything but they've learned a lot during the last few books and they know what is needed to get what they want. The last few chapters were therefore incredibly satisfying.

I also liked how Alina and her guys are figuring out how to work and live and love together in this book. The guys still had a little bonding to do but in this book they're discovering that since they're important to Alina they're also important to each other. It's nice to see these guys working together instead of trying to undermine each other. It's clear that Alina, with her ambition and her coping mechanisms, needs all three of them.

I also liked that we got to see glimpses into the futures of quite some side characters in the story. Just like I loved how all the characters, and the readers, have to consider that maybe fate might be a thing and that maybe even the bad things happen for a reason. After all, Alina wouldn't have found her mates if the worst hadn't happened to her. Also, in this book Alina also FINALLY takes her time to properly grief and deal with all her emotions. Not easy to read, but a very good thing to show!

Waited a whole year to finish Blood Oath series with Bite of Justice by R.L. Caulder and it… Mostly didn’t disappoint. The supernatural world is about to change. Only natural not everyone cares about the new status quo.

About the Book: This is it. Alina sets out for one last gamble, having made peace with whatever has happened that faithful night. Her family was betrayed. Not by the vampire king, Dracula, but by their own kind, the hunters. And she can take her sweet revenge, destroying all who had a hand in it… Or she could make an example of them, and change their whole world, uniting all the factions. And wouldn’t that be a kind of sweeter revenge? To not only survive, but to thrive? As the reigning queen at Dracula’s side?

My Opinion: The story itself is simple, but good. Reminds me of the good old times when vampires became their own genre, and you couldn’t throw a stake without hitting a new series with them. Alina evolves to fit the new role better and brings in changes from the perspective of someone far closer to the common people than Lord Dracula himself. So, she offers a great solution to everything: her own revenge, justice for others who suffered due to the conspiring traitors, some better framed equality among the supernaturals, and so on. All whilst blundering through information gathering, ruining perfectly good chances at diplomacy or trickery, and otherwise being the complete opposite to Dracula. Who was the star of the show, as I greatly enjoyed watching the vampire king find it in him to wear a friendship bracelet, accept other people into his relationship, and ever so slightly torture an offending little worm of a man. So, I had fun, can’t complain. But the plot holes, the scenes that clearly weren’t thought through, just written and made work, and the eyeroll of a finale kind of made it all mediocre.

A 4 out of 5, maybe a bit less, but it’s really not that bad. It’s just fine.

Fang filled finale 😝
There’s all the emotions in this last book!!
You get to see each of these characters grow throughout the series but this final book shows you just how much they have developed individually as well as a found family unit 🥰
There’s tears of joy, relief and sadness the whole way through!
Alina needs to decide how she’s going to try and deal with her grief over all of her loss, both friends and family - alongside the betrayals that have been dealt to her 😢
Not only that but as the new Queen of the Vampires she’s got to think about the future of Sanguis and how to manage both the vamps and slayers 🙈
The final battle answers the lingering questions as to who did what and why! It was over a little quick for me personally but glad got answers 👍🏻
Definitely a character focused book and what worth ones they are 😍

What a wonderful ending of the series. I was so thrilled when I finally got hold of the this last installment as I was anxious to see what will happen with Alina, her mates and of course, Lo as the previous book really took its tall on me with that cliffhanger.

Caulder has really let Alina shine here as the main protagonist finally shatters and all her grief comes pouring down. It is exceptionally moving how she come to face her past and the dreadful experiences she had to endure. Sometimes we need to take time to come to terms with the hardships in life, in other words we need to let ourselves crumble down, let our emotions run freely and then pick ourselves up and move on. That is precisely what Alina managed to do here and the author has done a splendid work by portraying that.

The book is fantastic and the story really reveals some wonderful truths - at the end of the day, what matters is the people that make us feel cherished, loved and protected.

Book 4 is here feels like forever since I last read this series. But non the less I am happy to wait for another great book. So I just had to jump straight in and start reading. This book is just as fantastic as the rest in the series I just couldn’t put this series down at all. Alina end ms up with no choice to seek out the people she swore a blood oath to destroy. But new opponents are stepping in to the light. But despite the chaos of her life one thing has remains true she is out for blood. With Los life hanging in the balance time is of the upmost importance to get the antidote in time to save her life. Dam this series is just amazing from start to finish all the ups and downs in Alinas life just sucks you in and makes you feel like you are living it right along with her. I just love the way this book ended I was not expecting the way things had turned out. What an ending but gutted this series is finished but now to start the other books in this universe

1.5 ⭐️

Honestly, I’ll be so real, this really could have been put into one book— if it had been well plotted. I think out of obligation and wanting to see how it ended, is why I’ve even managed to finish the series.

I’m still unsure what the point of this book was, asides from finding an antidote to save their friend, Lo; I had completely forgot (genuinely lol) that Alina was a student at the academy— how the hell did she even graduate?! I vaguely remember Lincoln having to give up his post as a professor, but that just seemed to be like swept under the rug, as well, as the issue of a student being in a relationship with a teacher?! I also forgot that Alina was avenging the death of her parents; like honestly this has so many plot holes. There’s just so many things left unanswered. How did she marry her mates? Was the officiant compelled to do so?

Pacing is still an issue, but I’m not surprised by it at this point.

For my first why choose read, the relationships explored was okay, if anything that was what most interested me, but then I have nothing else to really compare it to, but it was interesting to read.

I just don’t know, I feel very underwhelmed.

This book was the perfect ending for Alina’s storyline with the DIA shared universe. Alina’s character achieves wonderful growth that was beautifully written. Her pain was not glossed over, nor was it minimized. The relationship with her mates was highlighted as each man helped her in their own way and together. I am left looking forward to the other series within this universe. The final epilogue gave me a warm feeling in my heart.
