The premise was fine. A teenage girl who lives with her grandmother (after her parents incarceration) and other random family members gets herself caught up. Nice that the protagonist was from the islands. I do think I pick up Treasure Hernandez's books from time to time thinking either a) It's Treasure Blue or b) Thinking they'll get better. This one was actually one of her (his?) better ones. Simmy downward spirals after her cousin Jayla gets locked up. She had been kicked out of her grandmothers house. Her boyfriend Kyan then also gets arrested and jailed. So she's on her own and ripe for being picked by Alex. Who is someone that she should never hook up with. And the story goes.
Simmy was looking for love but in the wrong places and it seems like everything bad always happen to her her parents locked up,cousin (Kayla) & ex bf (Kyan) locked up and Mummy Pat. Glad Kyan back can't wait for part 2 Alex and Kyan the war is on.
This book was really good it was very fast pace. I felt so sorry for Simone in the beginning because nobody really liked her until her cousin can and taught her the game and hooked her up with all those nice clothes and money it was nice but all things always come with a price. Jayla knee that her cousin was naïve to the game so basically she used her for her own gain. That’s all I’m going to say if you want to know the rest you have to read the book. You won’t be disappointed at all.
Very face paced read. I listened to it in one day. It seems like I missed something. It seemed like everything happened in one day. The plot was so rushed, and the characters were under developed.
