Everyone has dreamed about becoming a pirate, from the swashbuckling sea dogs of old to the space-age pirate captain weaving his way through an asteroid field to avoid pursuit. Oftentimes, they’re looking for payback on someone who has horribly wronged them. That’s what Reggie, Maddy, Ed, and Harold have on their minds. Our favorite Joongee are back, and they’re determined to settle a few scores.
But it’s a little difficult when you don’t have enough credit for the gate fee, and you’re on the run due to some minor assault charges and a teeny tiny office fire. Fortunately, Reggie knows just the low-down scallywag who can help them out of their predicament. So long as Reggie doesn’t punch him in the face first, too.
Nothing in this galaxy is free, though. The pirates want a little help in return, and Reggie will have to become the very thing he hates the most in order to succeed. Can Reggie, Maddy, Harold, and Ed reclaim what’s rightfully theirs, or are they simply out of luck? One thing is certain, though: there will be payback.
This is a poorly written juvenile romance novel that's rather shabbily disguised as science fiction. The authors do their own reputations and their readers a huge disservice by publishing such pap.
I tried the first book in the series because I found each of these authors engaging in their solo efforts. I had a lingering sense of dissatisfaction after reading it but thought that the two authors might need some more time to gel with each other's style, so gave #2 a try. Bad move. I just couldn't get past the first third of the second book. Perhaps a 10- or 14-year-old could. Not me. And to be clear, I don't set a high bar. Most things sci-fi are grist to my mill. But not this. Definitely not this.
If you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, then have at it, but don't say you weren't warned.
To quote Herman’s Hermits “second verse, same as the first. A little bit louder and a little bit worse.” With that said, this second book was entertaining and the primary story threads are resolved by the end of the book. And yet, there is more to come for those daring souls willing to continue.
This story picks up just after the end of book one and continues to provide the pandemonium, hijinks, and hilarity of the first book. We find out just how far the sparkling pink princess pony will go to get her tail back, and what Maddy will do for coffee, too. Oh, and the payback is delicious! On to #3!
Who doesn't like a good pirate story? Pirates, treasure, archaeologists, deadly traps- great story. I only wish there was some form of an glossary telling me about the different Alien types.
Excellent sci fi adventure (with cackling space hyenas)
And a tiny space kraken. I laughed out loud a lot, chewed a few nails, and have a really bad feeling that payback may come back to bite them in the ass. But in the meantime, Harold and Raiza are an inspired pairing, and Moops deserves mercy. Reggie's backstory made me cry. There is some graphic violence (poor Moops). The romance is perfect. Maddy is still insanely funny. Commander Gunner needs therapy. And I love Randy and his crew.
