A good collection of articles , not all as funny as I’d expect but nice to have around for those moments you don’t have a book on the go. Very old now!
Ok, I must admit I've cheated a bit with this one and listened along to the audiobook, but I think it makes a lot of difference sometimes to hear the book read out, especially when the narrator is the writer herself and you can hear it how she probably imagined it whilst she was writing. If I had just read the book, I think I would have loved it, but I also think it would have taken me longer to finish and I probably wouldn't have had such a laugh out loud experience as I did listening to the audiobook, which succeeded in taking it to another level. In fact, I've been wandering around the house with my Walkman for the last two days listening to it, which is unusual since I normally only listen to tapes when I'm out of the house and have 'nothing better to do' as it were. I think it's rather apt, really, that I found it so unputdownable given how the book starts. All this is really just to say that I love this book and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone (but especially, of course, if you are a fan of Maureen Lipman and her work).

if suffering from insomnia/middle of the night anxiety ,this book is perfect for you, short chapters, of easy humour will distract you for a bit, i wouldn't read it all in one go as the tone after a bit gets a tad monotonous.just general observations of life are covered.not mind blowing,i prefer her acting to her writing ,but there again i haven't the skill or brains to write a book,so it is not fair to criticise, still dwelling on her line " there is more to life than bloody books" ..........is there????
Good book. Humorous reflections on incidences from her life. Keeps your attention and not too long. Not quite my humour but not far off. Not really dated generally. I think people from many backgrounds would enjoy this but especially mid-older aged women.
