Military Assassin James Tyler, unlicensed killer, is sent on a mission to slay the man who started a large nuclear war on a small planet. He travels through the ruins of civilization in pursuit of his prey, while, at the same time, he, too, is pursued by the forces of vengeance. The race is tight, and the stakes are as high as human morality itself.
One of the organs of the Concordat is Officially illegal-- It is called the Black Book-- a roster of Assassins. This is the story of one of those Assassins and why he does what he does. It is a study in Brutal Necessity and Political Purpose and individual Choices. This one follows 'Become The Hunted'
Swycaffer's writing continues to improve book-by-book, but this one still had a number of minor issues (unrealistic love plot, insistence on bringing in the major movers of the Concordat, and generally a 60s/70s flower-child feel) that kept me from rating it more than average.
