Kendra L. Saunders writes about rock stars and hangs out with rock stars. She is the author of DATING AN ALIEN POP STAR and the rest of the ALIEN POP STAR series, as well as THE UNLOVE SPELL, the magic realism novel INANIMATE OBJECTS, the dark comedy DEATH AND MR. RIGHT and the poetry collection GEMINIS AND PAST LIVES.
Dating an alien Popstar is the first "Chick lit" book I've ever read, and I can now say that I do not enjoy this genre. Still! This book did its job fairly well. I mean, I did finish it and had a good time doing so. Yes, it IS self-indulgent, but also clearly written out of love. One particular scene that stood out to me was when Dev, Griffin's soulmate, experienced rain for the first time. The author's writing was superb: simple, but with a drop of poetic contempt that moved me. The best thing about this book is Dev & Griffin & Daisy's one-of-a-kind relationship. It was refreshing to see a MC embrace her lover's past and present relationships with, not just grace, but some of her own love as well.
