Werber began studying journalism in 1982 in Paris, where he discovered the work of sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick. In 1991 he published the novel Les Fourmis (Empire of the Ants), a complex fantasy novel in which ants were the heroes and humans the pesty antagonists. The novel became a cult hit across Europe, and Werber followed it with two other books in the same vein: Le Jour des Fourmis (Day of the Ants,1992) and La Révolution des Fourmis (Revolution of the Ants, 1995). His other books include L'Empire des Anges (Empire of the Angels, 2000) and L'Arbre des possibles (The Tree of Possibles, 2002).

Bon.
Je vais commencer par préfacer que ce livre n'est pas "mauvais". Je ne fais pas partie du public ciblé par ce roman. Je lis rarement de la littérature francophone et encore moins des histoires de "détectives". Vous rajoutez cela à l'élément centrale scientifique, vous obtenez un mélange contraire à la littérature qui est la mienne.
Cependant je ne peux pas qualifier ce livre de "mauvais". Ce que je peux en revanche dire c'est que nos pauvre personnages principaux sont lents à la détente et il leur a fallu 2 fois plus de temps qu'à moi pour comprendre ce qu'il s'est passé - bien sûr le lecteur avait un train d'avance avec la timeline de Jean-Louis / U-lis mais attendre sagement que les personnages fassent tous les rapprochements m'a longuement ennuyé.
Sans parler de la fin entre Lucrèce et Isidore, bien trop cliché selon moi - un homme et une femme qui travaillent ensemble sont-ils voués à finir ensemble? sans parler du fait qu'ils se rapprochent physiquement direct, genre ok, ça aurait une déclaration d'amour et ça se finit là dessus ok, mais là c'est vraiment pas nécessaire quoi mdr

J'aime bien l'ensemble de l'oeuvre de Bernard Werber. J'aime bien cet auteur qui ose penser autrement. Des fois, penser autrement amène des livres avec des fins complètement ridicule comme dans le père de nos pères. D'autres fois ça donne des livres superbe comme l'empire des Anges ou les fourmis.
L'ultime Secret livre m'a un peu déçu. J'aime bien le côté vulgarisation de la science. Ce que j'ai moins aimé c'est l'ultime secret lui-même. J'ai eu l'impression que l'auteur n'a pas chercher longtemps pour cette conclusion. J'ai aussi moins aimé l'intrigue qui était tellement facile à deviner. La seule chose qui m'a aider à ternir jusqu'à la fin c'était pour savoir comment s'est produit le meurtre.
Pour moi, ce roman est en dessous de la moyenne que je donne généralement à l'auteur. Au moins, il n'est pas aussi pire que le père de nos pères.

Дуже сподобалась, як і попередній раз)))
Загалом з радістю перечитувала, дивувалась, як багато всього я забула і як багато пасхалок до інших книг Вербера в цій книзі, гарно мати беграунт знайомства з Верберам різноманітний, дляґ такого більш широкого досвіду і осмислення сюжетів.
Особливим шоком для мене було те що головні герої, це герої книги "Отец наших отцов". А зараз я знайшла що це серія книг "Авантюристи науки", і я не читала з цієї серії виходить одну книгу "Смех Циклопа"...
Оце так неочікувана і приємно знайти нову серію книг Вербера.
Не знаю як третя книга, а ця друга з серії книга мені подобається більше за першу, кінець першої мене дещо розчарував, а оця ні, і кінець гарний як на мене і сама історія багатогранна та неймовірно цікава. Не могла від неї відірватись, дух захоплює. Хоча інколи і страх.
Дуже рекомендую.
Думаю ще безпосередньо з цією книгою варто читати "Скринька Пандори", "Древо возможного и другие истории" та "«Энциклопедия относительного и абсолютного знания» (яка авжеж відноситься до всіх книг Вербера)

Je suppose que l'auteur s'est bien amusé. En se moquant de ses lecteurs. La recette: profiter d'une renommée de sérieux, faire semblant de vulgariser des soi-disants savoirs scientifiques bateaux, en racontant une histoire sans queue ni tête. Circonstances atténuantes: volontairement burlesque, déconnade pour le plaisir de raconter n'importe quoi sous le couvert de sa renommée?

Qu'est ce qui nous motive ? Bernard Werber nous entraîne dans le secret du cerveau, basé sur un fait scientifique réel, j'ai été passionné par cette découverte. Et on retrouve les deux personnages journalistes du premier tome du cycle des Aventuriers de la Science, Lucrèce et Isidore avec qui on a envie de découvrir encore plus de choses !

An interesting book by the french author, a little bit simple but still gives some ideas for my head and imagination. It induces my global thinking. I've read many books by Bernar Verber but this one was the best for me among others.

Nullissime, se veut profond et intellectuel mais est ridicule. Intrigue peu captivante et bourré de clichés et de commentaires exaspérants sur la femme. Une vision étrangement passive du rôle de la femme dans la sexualité. Extrêmement déçue.

I have read and enjoyed Bernard Werber’s book [Empire of the Ants] previously and had high expectations for this one.
And indeed it seemed a book that would not disappoint the standards of my previous read: creative and compact plots and settings, engaging narrative, and some riveting expositions of scientific facts in a way that would not bore the reader. It had everything that testified it’s making by a great sci-fi writer.
The reason I’m giving this 3 stars is because of the ending. After all those intriguing cues as to what the ultimate secret was, it turned out to be a single spot in the brain that could easily be located with coordinates, which I think is a gross oversimplification and an insult to the complexity and wonder of our brain, and this had been the very subject of the book until it’s most frustrating ending.
Though the alternating perspective and movie like thrill of this book is similar to [Empire of the Ants], the actual conclusion is a stark contrast. The latter sparked a whole lot of suspense and anticipation for the future concealed within the unfinished ending in me whereas the former felt like watching a mountain of a plot grow then see it pop and disappear and realizing that it was a mere bubble.
Another thing that I didn’t like about the book was it’s satyrical denouncement and cynical view of everything of meaning to the human race: religion, love, responsibility, honor .etc. the only thing that remained un-abused was CIEL the ultimate metropolis of pleasure, which is cynicism in itself.
Overall, this is a good book for those who would like to learn some brain science and be entertained at the same time. But one can’t expect any more than that.

J’ai adoré ce roman de Bernard Werber, dont j’apprécie particulièrement le style d’écriture. Sa manière de faire se chevaucher les histoires, d’insérer des réflexions philosophiques et surtout de terminer ses récits par des chutes inattendues et difficilement prévisibles est toujours un régal.
Ce qui m’a le plus surpris, c’est sa capacité à anticiper l’évolution de l’intelligence artificielle dès 2001, à une époque où les ressources sur le sujet étaient encore limitées. Sa vision est à la fois audacieuse et étonnamment lucide.
Les personnages sont également très intéressants, autant par leur façon de penser que par leur originalité. Chacun apporte une perspective unique, ce qui rend la lecture d’autant plus captivante.
Je compte lire "Le rire du Cyclope" très prochainement afin de conclure cette trilogie fascinante.

Автор – десятка. Справді, навіть причепитися нема до чого. Історія побудована чудово, читається комфортно, вгадати майбутній перебіг подій не вдавалося.
Про що книга? Про мозок і нейрохірургію (люблю), про шахи (вау, круто), про технології (фантастік). Раджу до читання однозначно. Після цієї книги я гуглила додаткову інформацію про штучний інтелект, дізналася, що кількість ходів в шахах настільки велика, що сучасні машини ще не справляються з простим перебором у адекватний період часу. Виявляється, навіть кількість віток дерева рішень після 13-ти напівходів досі не порахована!
А ще ця книга про задоволення. Прості та складні, щоденні та особливі. І… не буду спойлити, але я для себе з неї взяла немало.

Напоследък никоя книга не успяваше да задържи вниманието ми. Прочела съм всички книги на Вербер, преведени на български. Очарована съм от всяка една. Тъй като съм много заинтригувана от човешкия мозък, "Върховната тайна" ме забавляваше и ми показа един нов прочит на човешката мисъл. Единственото, което не ми хареса особено, е краят. Вербер умее да завършва зашеметяващо своите романи. Но точно в този не усетих необходимия заряд.
Изключително много се надявам да преведат и другите му книги на български или поне да ги намеря в превод на английски. Ако не успея да ги открия, си заслужава дори да науча френски :)

Ce deuxième tome des Aventuriers de la science est bien meilleur que le premier, de par son intrigue. J'ai trouvé bien plus intéressant de se pencher sur les mécanismes du cerveau que sur l'origine de l'homme.
Cependant, j'ai un peu de mal à apprécier nos deux personnages principaux; surtout Isidore qui m'apparaît plutôt comme un "Monsieur je sais tout". Je ne sais pas trop pourquoi.
Encore une fois, je pense que j'ai déjà lu le meilleur de Werber et cette trilogie semble bien pâle en comparaison avec la Pentalogie du Ciel.

C'est à peu près aux trois quarts du livre que je me suis demandée si je ne l'avais pas déjà lu. Et, une fois arrivée à la fin, je suis toujours incapable de le savoir ! Comme quoi...
L'histoire est suffisamment intéressante pour que je tienne à le terminer, c'était une vraie aventure à la Werber avec le bon dosage d'informations scientifiques véridiques qui servent à rendre notre lecture plus "intelligente", j'aime bien !
Cette fois, le thème porte sur le cerveau humain.

Это моя самая любимая книга из всех книг Вербера (а я читала почти все). Блестящий сюжет, персонажи, к которым испытываешь симпатию сразу же и великолепный стиль самой книги. Эта книга как бы стоит особняком от всех остальных его книг. Здесь минимум фантастики, больше реальной жизни и захватывающих приключений. До самого-самого конца ты даже не догадываешься каков же все-таки этот последний секрет. Также как и кто же убийца. На протяжении всего расследования преступления нет прозрачных вещей, нет догадок, и ты с огромным интересом "принимаешь участие" в этом расследовании. В целом книга отрывает интересные и скрытые возможности человеческого мозга. На этом и построена книга.

Какие то журналюги перехитряют сверх мозг гения, делящиго свой разум с ИИ... Не верю.
В добавок всё как то слишком откровенно с ними делается информацияй.
И у единственного человека который мог что-то изменить к лучшему забрали эту возможность изо банального страха перед прогрессом.
Идея хорошая, но выполнения из рук вон плохо.

its psychological knowledge background and author's deep writing that reflects character's thinking make this book even more interesting and be immersed in story.

One of my psychology professors suggested we read this book. I opened it without any expectations, but I was quite surprise by the originality and the intelligence of this book. This is the book that makes me discover Bernard Werber.

I always enjoy how scientific those books are and this one makes no exception. Loved the adventure of the two protagonists. made me think about how the world could have changed if this secret was leaked out in reality

J'adore l'histoire ! La réflexion sur le cerveau, les commandements qui peuvent nous motiver, toutes les réflexions philosophiques sur la raison de vivre, la raison d'être accompagné .
Cela fait longtemps que je l'ai lu et je m'en rappelle encore , je pense même le relire un de ces quatre

polar scientifique. Très bien ficelé. Très documenté (un peu trop ?), et tient vraiment en haleine. Je ne connaissais pas cet auteur, c'est particulier (dans le genre scientifique) mais se laisse bien lire. Apprécié également par mon époux.
