Griffiths has not only summarised fifty key thinkers in international relations, he has also looked outside of the international relations specialists to have a more comprehensive view of the subject area.
International relations is complicated and highly variable in any context, which allows for a wide range of theories concerning the different forms and entropies of multi-state connections and interconnections.
Griffiths breaks down the theorists into their areas of bias whether it be liberal, realist, history and also feminist just to name a few. He also adds comprehensive lists of the individual authors' works, and more importantly he compares and contrasts comprehensively, the strengths and weaknesses of the authors.
When it comes to books that have a broad sweep, there are few that have been done better and like all great books, it offers up a whole range of new avenues of research and understanding just as it answers other questions.
The prose is both academic and accessible, and the material allows for arm chair as well as specialists in the field of international relations to engage on a level that suits them; clarifier or resource!
For me, this book would a have been a great edition to the reading material that was used when i was studying at university, but now it is helping to continue my understanding and engagement with a field of study that i find fascinating and engaging.
This is not just a book to me, it is a resource that i will engage with from time to time in the future as work my way through the different recommended readings.

Her başlığın sonundaki okuma önerileri başlı başına birer kaynakça. Mutlaka okunmalı.
