She’s a misunderstood teacher. He’s an overwhelmed single dad. Can they learn to trust and let love win? Cassie Phillips has never fit the mold her friends and family have tried to squeeze her into. Throwing herself into her work as a teacher, and training her rescue horse, Chance, keeps her mostly distracted from feeling like an outsider. But when Chance’s boarding stable burns down, her life takes a turn she never saw coming.
Handsome Micah Black is a rancher with a tragic past. Divorced, heart-broken, and now reunited with a son so traumatized he doesn’t speak, the last thing on Micah’s mind is romance. He just wants to heal and grasp God’s plan despite all his pain. But when Cassie’s horse ends up boarding at his ranch after the fire, Micah feels drawn to Cassie’s quirky strength in ways he can’t explain.
Can Micah open his heart to trust a woman again? And even if he does, will Cassie drop her guard enough to fall for a rancher who believes in God when she doesn’t?
Each Black Rock Ranch romance is a stand-alone story with its own HEA, but the family saga is best enjoyed in
1. Cherished by the Rancher (Adam & Maddy 2. Resisting the Rancher (Caleb & Jo) 2.5 Romancing the Rancher (Jesse & Sam) 3. Falling for the Rancher (Micah) 4. Rescuing the Rancher (Seth)
"Falling for the Rancher” is an emotionally moving story about two people who couldn’t be more different from each other, meeting each other by happenstance.
This is the first book by Jen peters that I had read. But it will not be my last. She has a great touch with her characters so lively so real so engaging. I also liked the setting of the ranch, letting me in what a real ranch does. And I liked the family that surrounded the rancher, the hero. Not the usual romantic conflicts. And a delightful little boy. Highly recommended.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT She’s a misunderstood teacher. He’s an overwhelmed single dad. Can they learn to trust and let love win?
Micah’s routine life at Black Rock Ranch just turned upside down. He gets to be a dad again! But little Jake has been traumatized and won’t speak, no matter how much Micah prays. On top of that, there’s a new gal at the ranch who is setting his guarded heart awhirl.
When Cassie’s truck breaks down, she’s rescued by a handsome rancher. Sparks fly, he seems to accept her quirks, and she could almost hope something real is developing between them. Except that he's a believer and for her, God doesn't exist.
Can Micah open his heart to trust a woman again? Can Cassie let down her guard enough for Micah to help her face her fears and discover faith in God?
MY TAKE I have really enjoyed the Black Rock Ranch series and getting to know the family. It was fun to see poor Micah finally find his happily ever after.
He's a single dad who hasn't been allowed to have much to do with his son. Not Micah's choice but because his ex refused to let him see the boy. Now she's died of a drug overdose, and little Jake is traumatized. Like so traumatized that he fears people, especially anyone who looks like his mother, and the boy won't speak. The little guy's only three. Even adults would have a difficult time talking about what they'd experienced in his situation, and a child just doesn't have the words. But he's surrounded by a loving family now, even if he doesn't trust many of them. So Micah's got his hands full.
Enter Cassie, the woman he helped when her car broke down. Turns out she's temporarily boarding a rescue horse at Black Rock when the stable she'd been using has a fire. There's immediate chemistry between her and Micah. But neither of them are interested; they already have too much on their plates. Or so they tell each other.
This is quite a lovely story where two good-hearted people are trying to help something/one they love. For Cassie, it's a horse who was mistreated. But she carries her own baggage. She's always walked to the beat of a different drum, and her family has never understood her. It's made her prickly and defensive. So much so there were times I wondered why Micah wasn't completely turned off by her. But he recognized Cassie was in pain, and he was willing to work through it to find the real woman underneath. And it doesn't hurt that Jake likes her.
There's a big set up for the next book with Micah's brother Seth who comes back from the Army minus a limb. Can't wait!
Both Cassie and Micah had fears that could have torn them apart. Learning how much God loves us can take away fear, and even make healing possible. Very good!
The characters are complex and real. The story pulls you in and takes you to Black Rock Ranch. It was well written and the ends were tied up nicely. It also had a happy and believable ending. What more could you want?
This is a lovely romance. I agree with Micah that people should come with a user manual! Poor Micah is pulled in so many directions he almost loses Cassie. And Jake - oh my, even the hardest heart will break for that little boy. Really enjoyed this and can't wait to read Seth's story.
Another excellent read. It is good to be able to read a book and not find content that is uncomfortable. Virtue, kindness and faith make all of Jen Peters' book a joy to read.
Falling for the Rancher has great main and supporting characters. Micah is a loving and attentive father to Jake, who was neglected and traumatized by his now deceased mother. Micah and Jake are surrounded by close family. Cassie is a school teacher with different ideas about how to teach than her principal. She loves her rescue horse, Chance, and spends her free time with him. Author Jen Peters has written a swoony hero, who in spite of all of his reasons to avoid a romantic relationship, just can't seem to resist Cassie. Micah and Cassie share some swoony kisses in this wholesome romance. I enjoy this author's writing style and find it a pleasure to read. I recommend this book to clean, wholesome romance readers, to readers of Christian romance, and to lovers of all things cowboy. I received a complimentary copy and am sharing my opinion of this well-written book.
Falling For the Rancher is a Christian, heartwarming, inspirational romance. This entire series is so heartfelt. Ms. Peters creates realistic, human characters who are not perfect but who wait for God's help and his perfect timing to make their lives better. Little Jake almost broke my heart; he had endured so much. I love Cassie's empathy for her students and her patience with Chance, the abused horse she rescued, developing his trust and healing him. I just spent most of Saturday at Black Rock Ranch immersed in this well written romance. I am looking forward to reading Seth's journey.
After the death of his ex wife Micah finally is able to bring his son home. His son has been traumatized and no longer makes a sound and is shy around some people. Then a new horse shows up on the ranch followed by its owner, Cassie. When the stable where Cassie keeps her rescued horse burns the stable owner sends her horse to Black Rock Ranch. Cassie doesn’t count on falling for the single dad. Will they be able to discover they are better together or will their individual problems pull them apart?
I really enjoyed this story. The rancher,Micha Black and Cassie Phillips met when her truck stopped running. She had rescues n abused horse and had him at a stable. Only problem was the stabled burned and Black Rock Ranch was caring for him. Cassie had gone to see and that is when her truck stopped. Only the beginning of their love life, much more to come enjoy.
Riding in to the sunset of love, adventure and happiness.
Micah and Cassie found each other unexpectedly but found love and happiness between them and Jake. Enjoyed every moment of reading this romantic adventurous experience and you will too.
What a wonderful God loving family. All of the problems with Jake the love and support he received brought him back from being reclusive and not speaking. Cassie and Micah are a perfect couple to raise a happy little boy.
This one is so so so sooooooo Good. Meeting sweet little Jake made me so happy, but broke my heart what he went through with his “so called mother”. Praise Jesus Cassie came in to their lives. A really great book
Enjoyed the storyline but was disappointed with all the grammar errors. Shows is was not read by a good proof reader. Hate endings of a story when there is no real ending.
