With plenty of flaps to open and a family of irresistible pigs romping through its pages, this lively book engages children in the classic game of hide-and-seek.
Where is Little Harry? He’s hiding somewhere, and it’s up to Mrs. Little and the other Little piggies to find him. Is he in the wagon? No. In the barn? He’s not there either. There’s plenty of fun in the farmyard as this merry game of lift-the-flap hide-and-seek progresses. And what do the Littles do once Harry is found? They play again!
Thoughts: I read this with my two year old cousins and they just loved the flaps and trying to find Harry! It was such a fun concept book with so much detail and wonderful illustration.
Classroom Use: Would be fun to have in lower grades, maybe K-2. Would be enjoyable for kids who are still learning to read but still depend on a lot of great graphics.
Lift-the-flaps, counting, and a farmyard setting combine in this satisfying game-in-a-book. As this story progressed we invited the children to "run" (hands rapidly slapping legs), "open / lift / climb" (with hand motions) and "shhhh" at appropriate points in the story.
