A student of Dr. Ann Wigmore and Viktoras Kulvinskas, Karyn Calabrese used raw food and detoxification to heal herself from illness, fatigue, and allergies. Soak Your Cleansing with Karyn, features her Nature's Healing System, a 28-day program that has helped thousands of her students overcome weight issues, skin problems, fibromyalgia, insulin dependence, insomnia, sinusitis, and countless other health problems. The program is designed to counter the effects of exposure to chemicals, other environmental pollutants, and stress; restore the body s balance; and revive its ability to rejuvenate naturally. Instead of dieting and counting calories, readers will learn how to use a raw natural diet, juicing, fasting, and internal cleansing to gain a new awareness of total body health. As a result, they will be equipped with the tools to make intelligent, responsible, health-promoting diet and lifestyle choices. Karyn's sense of humor and messages of self-love and acceptance make this program a truly holistic journey.
I saw Karyn's videos on youtube.com and thought, I want to look that great when I'm 64 -- no, I want to look that great now! So, I ordered her book...excited to go on a raw food detox diet. I was annoyed from the beginning with the countless testimonials and randomness of how the information is laid out. Then, I was completely put off by all of the crazy drinks and substances, many of which are products she sells. This diet is so involved and complicated that I just don't think it will be approachable for most people. I'm not saying that I won't try it, just that I'm going to have to make some serious investments first.
The first chapter was great, really inspiring. Then it took a turn into the really radical cleansing steps and I lost interest. Plus, she really promotes her own line of detox supplements and does not really do a good job of giving alternatives to those.
I thought this book was very informative on various healthy foods/products like spirulina, rejuvelac, digestive enzymes, etc. I fancy myself a health nut and some of these thing I've never heard of. OxyKare? I need to check this out! I will definitely be implementing some into my diet.
However, when I picked up this book, I thought it would be something entirely different. The book basically sells her 4 week cleanse and products. Every other page was testimonies from people who have completed her cleanse. It's fantastic that her cleanse works, but I was hoping for more of a normal book with straight up information. Oh well, it's my fault for not reading the synopsis thoroughly enough.
It's worth a read if you are looking for an intense cleanse and are willing to drop some bucks.
This book was just what I needed to put me back on the track to good health. I am just coming to week 4 of the detox and am down eleven pounds and feeling great! A raw vegan diet is the way for me and this book was a quick easy read that re-inspired me.
