Quiet days are to be treasured – but sooner or later, they always end.

After curing the Corruption plague in Fiend territory, Rob, Riardin's Rangers, and the Deserters have settled into their new home. It's given them the stability they've been striving for ever since being forced to flee The Village so many months ago. Unfortunately, their well-earned rest is cut short when a Dwarven messenger arrives, begging for assistance.

The Blight has returned. And without Rob's help, Dwarven territory will fall.

Naturally, things aren't that straightforward. As the mission evolves into something even beyond killing an eldritch abomination, Rob's strength and willpower will be tested. Whether it's mingling with world leaders, contemplating the Dragon Queen's fraying sanity, or discovering shocking secrets about the system itself, there's never a dull moment for Riardin's Rangers. Maybe one day they'll get the lasting peace they so desperately desire.

But for now, there are enemies that need killing.

About the An Outcast in Another World is a LitRPG adventure series with elements of fantasy, portal fantasy, isekai, progression, and weak-to-strong character development. Victories are difficult but earned. Rob gains strength at a rate that continuously increases his importance in the world, but without making his allies irrelevant. The plot has consistent forward momentum, and the story's cast of characters is fully fleshed-out, each with their own struggles. Fight scenes are high-octane brawls that involve creative applications of Rob's abilities. Get your copy today!

Hello all you lovely people! My name is Brett - a.k.a. KamikazePotato - and I've been a massive fan of fantasy stories since the first time I first picked up a book. Over the years, I've devoured well over 100 fantasy novels, dozens of fantasy video games, plenty of fantasy TV shows and movies...you get the idea.

Naturally, this made me want to create a fantasy world of my own. Around the time I decided to sit down and write a story I would actually share with everyone, I also got into the LitRPG genre, and here we are.

I plan to write plenty more stories in this genre, and to spread my wings out to other genres as well! Writing is a joy, and so is getting to see people enjoy what I've created.

This was the 4th instalment of the Outcast in Another World Series. The series is a very fun mix of LitRPG and portal fantasy. A great mix of action, slice of life, cool magic, and fun fantasy creatures and races.

This was a pretty good instalment of the series. I’ve found a lot of LitRPG series tend to go off the rails and suffer big quality declines as the series progresses and the characters level up in power but this series is definitely an exception to that rule. The quality has remained consistent, the story interesting, and the characters likeable as ever.

The story was solid in this one. Rob and companions had established an alliance with the Fiends and were reaching out to the Elves, Merfolk, and Dwarves to find allies in the battle against the blight. A lot of the story was in the Dwarven kingdom and it proved a pretty interesting place.

We also got some fun developments in the Diplomacy story arc!

All in all this is a very solid LitRPG/portal fantasy. I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series.

Rating: 4 stars.

Audio Note. Neil Hellegers did a decent job with the audio. Dude struggles a bit with the female dialogue but outside of that is a good narrator.

some more, please

Finally get to ‘meet’ the Harpies. Dragon Queen remains a problem.

Looking forward to the next book. This is awesome.

I quite enjoy these overall, and this will retain its 5 rating despite the things I didn't like.

Specifically, it's really long; longer than it really need to be, imo. The Earth flashback with Jason was less interesting, but I didn't factor that into the rating. That would get a 4.

What I did really like was the synopsis at the beginning, something I like to thank authors for as unless the books are back-to-back I find myself completely lost more often than I'd like starting book 3 or 4. We'll see if I can remember where we are when book 5 comes along.

Was boring

So many perspectives that added nothing to the plot or world or anything. Just long endless pages of not even much character development. Nothing else was accomplished in those sections, and everyone got a turn.

Once again, an 800 pg book that should have been 400 pgs. I wish the writing had been a tad more professional too. A lot of goofy, cheesy, and awkward sentences.

I think I'm finally dropping this series. I enjoyed up to this point but the story isn't entertaining anymore. Too much side stuff. Too much fluff.

So a bit of give and take.

The story finally feels like it is advancing, but the characters feel like they are devolving. I really don't see any difference between the heroes or the villains. At this point I am honestly rooting for the Blight.

Grinding and Leveling

Alternate universe, LitRPG lite, character development

The fight against the Blight continues, and Riardan's Rangers reach out to other races. Interesting developments with an incredible reveal about the nature of their world, Elatra. Bonus was the short novel at the end of book 4.

Starting sentences with ellipses isn't proper English; the only time it works is when the character enters an area where people are already engaged in dialog. Please stop using it for narration. Otherwise, fewer than the expected number of typos. Don't start with this book, but if you've been reading the series, it's a good entry. Over a thousand pages (though it's block paragraphs), so worth the money and time. Ready for book 5.

Another solid entry, more fighting, more team bonding, and just all around good time. It’s not the deepest book but definitely entertaining. You can tell the series is starting to reach the end game. Looking forward to seeing where the series goes. One complaint I will say is that the main story arcs in this book felt to similar to one another, and I wish there had been a different kind of event that took place, just to switch it up a little. Overall though, solid book, lots of action, interesting characters and a cool world. I’d rate it a solid 3.5/5

This is a good addition to the series. It is a long book but if you liked the previous books then you would like this one. I like the action, the emotion, and the humor. There is a long part in the end that deals specifically with Jason and everything that he has been going through on earth. I thought this part was a little longer than needed and I wasn't as interested. Jason isn't as interesting a character and Rob and the group he surrounds himself with. Overall though I am happy with the series and I am looking forward to the next one.

Why did i bother to force myself to finish this

Boring, badly written and disappointing as well. It more resembles an extremely badly written Broadway play mixed with the worst of the worst sitcoms. Oh and the enormous amounts of absurd filer, really you feel the need to fill up i think 3 whole chapters filled with Robs full stats and skills regardless of the fact maybe once in a book is enough but it seems like the go to when the author doesn't seem to now what to do next. Honestly this had potential but it just couldn't deliver and in my opinion failed miserably.

It was alright

I think the other books were better personally. The political intrigue is getting old, as is the purposely vague lore regarding the big questions. The censors, gods, voidspawn, etc. The frustrating part was the last 20% of the book switched POV to Jason, and I don't enjoy him as a character. I don't connect with him, nor am I invested in him as anything other than Rob's friend, but 20% was focused on him. The whole bomb about the skills was unique, but felt lame.

The book was enjoyable, but I wish the story sped up a bit.

System turn for the worst

Understand first that this series so far has been great fun from a good author. Hence the four stars.

Now for an opinion - I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep reading or not. There’s nothing worse in a LitRPG than a story line where the goal is to remove the System and make everything normal. Nothing worse than characters always talking about how they hate the System. Outcast has been rapidly heading that direction.

If you enjoy that type, then great, this series is fantastic. I see it as the ruination of everything that makes a LitRPG fun.

Ascendant Insanity by KamikazePotato delivers another strong entry in the series, full of the chaotic charm fans have come to expect. This installment briefly introduces the harpies, adds more layers of insanity to the ever-volatile Dragon Queen, and continues to deepen the diplomatic threads that have become increasingly compelling. Rob and his companions remain flawed but endearing characters, and while the Blight still shrouds itself in mystery, that only adds to the anticipation. This book has me eager to dive in next. Another great read that keeps the momentum going.

I Very Much Enjoyed

Much enjoy, very fun, many plot twists and interesting discoveries; excited for next book, was sad when it ended. If you liked the last books, this one will live up to your expectations. At least, I had a great time reading. Many thanks to kamikaze potato for sharing this story, may he live on book writing sustainably for as long as he wishes

Entertaining Read

Rob and party continue to gain in power. They have helped four races with their blight problems. Only a few individuals are at a higher level than Rob. The party has to come to terms with the mayhem they've gone through as well as their high levels. I like the action, humor, intrigue, and romance. I look forward to another book.

Two books in one

I am extremely pleased to have Jason's experiences shown as an after book short story. Rob and Jason are hilarious and perfect for each other.
Jason is becoming quite adept at pissing off leaders, and gods. Leveling High is still concerning, and I wonder what makes it different—after the revelation about Diplomacy.

A good read

The story is deep and a bit messed up. There are things I don't like but non are enough to stop reading. I predict that end of this series will end by the mc freeing the the captive skills and it's a fade to black sorta deal which sucks

Another excellent entry

I’ve been waiting with baited breath for this, and it’s even better structured than the previous books. Rob continues his adventures with insanity, and the scope grows wider and wider without becoming overwhelming nor overbearing.

Getting better, great fun

I usually just give 5 stars for this series and move on. Love all the books so far.

The additional mini book at the end was not enjoyable for me at all though. For being a short story, It dragged immensely.

Loved the bonus story as much as the rest of the book!

What can I say. I enjoy knowing what is going on in both worlds, seeing how right and how wrong both sides are. The character interactions without direct interaction. Makes a good series even better.

Holy shit

So someone brought a nuke to a sword fight! This was completely amazing. Absolutely fantabulously amazing! I have no idea how long this one was, but I know it was super long because it took me a long time to read. For me anyway.

It was worth every word.

This is one of the few series that I’ve read that is getting better with time. I eagerly anticipate the next book and Rob’s return to earth.
