I found this to be a fairly painless way to learn a little Greek before a trip. I didn't use the games and puzzles and just stuck with CD review, mainly due to lack of time. I think the book would have been more useful if the vocabulary were presented in reverse order--useful phrases or words first (such as "hi" "thank you" "please") and then all of the vocabulary for everyday objects, adjectives, or places. Although I didn't pour over the book in my review, I was impressed that a couple of words came to me when needed while I was traveling, so just for that it was worth it.

A good learning tool for Greek beginners - between flashcards and a variety of exercises, it provides multiple avenues with which to learn the vocabulary, which I appreciated. Not all of the words are ones you need immediately (animals, landscapes, etc) but still provides a nice basis or supplement for beginners.

This would be a good book to begin teaching young people Greek in a classroom setting. Each chapter is made up of workbook-style games. If you are serious about learning a language, I look at getting another book with more substance.
