This may remind you of WKRP in Cincinnati! The first half is a little scattershot with different plotlines (maybe that's why Racina wrote it, cuz he wrote for soaps). Later it kinda coalesces into one throughline & moved much smoother. A fun read & the cast included Martin Mull, Cleavon Little, Eileen Brennan & singing by Jimmy Buffett & Linda Ronstadt :)
