This swoony, laugh-out-loud romance is about an annoyingly handsome neighbour and the woman who doesn’t realise she’s charmed by him ... even if she does need a date to her cousin’s wedding...
It’s been one day, thirteen hours, and five minutes since I turned twenty-nine.
Most would see it as a fresh chapter, but not me. On the surface, my life seems perfect—I'm a successful marketing executive, fiercely independent, and financially secure. Yet, as my thirties loom nearer and yet another dateless family wedding approaches, I can't shake the feeling that something vital is missing. As if being single wasn't frustrating enough, now my dream of being the Chief Marketing Officer hangs in the balance. And if that weren't enough, the fairy tale of dating turns out to be more of an illusion than reality. Prince Charming is nowhere to be found, and chivalry seems to have faded into obscurity. Each dreadful date leaves me questioning if true love even exists.
Enter Lucas, my infuriatingly rude and obnoxious womaniser of a neighbour, adding yet another layer of complexity to the chaos that is my life when he offers to be my fake boyfriend for my cousin’s wedding.
On The Market is a full length (60,000 words) contemporary rom-com standalone with steamy tension and high stakes.
3.5⭐️ This was a cute, sweet story with some steamy tension. It incorporates a lot of well established tropes - neighbors, fake dating, forced proximity, one bed. It’s a quick read with some humor and heart.
I felt that overall it was very well written with a few bumps/hiccups that took me out of the story from time to time. The timeline of the story is very fluid - I think there’s a bit of character/plot progression that takes place off page with no real indicator of how much time has progressed on page.
The two MCs are interesting - the FMC is much more developed in areas than the MMC. With one POV, there were times that I was definitely curious about the alternate POV. Overall a super cute book and of course I love the cover by Sam from Ink and Laurel!
I myself am a single 29 year old gal and related to Rosie a lot. I was excited to read this and feel I was somewhat let down. Overall it was a decent read. I think there was some editing choices that confused me or were out of order. In a chapter she mentions kissing Lucas and I did not remember it happening at that point and was very confused and then when they did kiss for the first time it was stated that it was the first time. Which further confused me to earlier chapters. I also think the “conflict” ending and reunion felt really rushed and could have been explored more for the overall story arc. I liked the premise and overall storyline, I just think it could have been executed a bit better based on pacing and editing.
As with Stephanie’s first release, ‘Picture Not So Perfect’, this is a wonderful and exciting story that entices you to turn the page and keep reading. Would 100% recommend to all book lovers. Can’t wait to see what Stephanie has in store next! 10/10
I absolutely loved reading this story. It had the right amount of tension, drama, romance and laugh-out-loud moments. The dates were hilarious and really well written. The storyline was amazing and very relatable. I cannot wait to read more of Steph’s books in future 🙏🏻
