7-letni Maks ma już dość psot swojego dwuletniego rodzeństwa. Mama i tata nigdy nie mają czasu, a czara przepełnia się, gdy bliźniaki niszczą jego ukochanego Misia. Zamiast pójść do szkoły, Maks ucieka z domu - na szczęście zaraz za szkołą zauważa go pan policjant i odprowadza. Rodzice rozmawiają z Maksem, dlaczego ucieczka nie jest dobrym wyjściem a chłopiec przekonuje się sam, że najważniejsza jest rodzina i każdy z nich jest wyjątkowy, chociaż czasami się na siebie złoszczą i mają wszystkiego dość.
Książka jest dosyć płytka i napisana w moralizatorskim tonie. Nie zostawia miejsca na interpretację.
