I expected this one to be equally funny and entertaining as the previous two books, but what I didn't expect was how sweet and adorable it would be. I couldn't stop smiling the whole time.
I adored the characters, especially Dave, Simon and Pie and all the other dragons. Dave is one of the sweetest and most endearing characters I've read about. I loved his innocence and kindness. Dave and Simon were so cute together and the fact that both of them was very refreshing.
The storyline is quite simple, but I enjoyed it a lot. It takes place at the same time as the previous book, but in a different setting, and there are some overlapping events, which I think was pretty great.
I would definitely recommend listening to the audiobooks for this series. Nick J. Russo brings so much life to the characters and his different and unique voices for each character are amazing. It felt like watching a movie. I only listened to books 2 and 3 on audio and I'm sure that his narration made me enjoy them even more than book 1.

Asexual Orcs! Cuddly dragons! Plus, eggs and spinach! Yup, it's all here in Socially Orcward.
I'm really into this adorable little series by Lisa Henry and Sarah Honey. These fluffy, easy reads are just immensely enjoyable, and Socially Orcward was no different.
I haven't read too many books where both MCs were asexual, so this book was exciting for me. Truthfully, I'm happy that these authors didn't make Dave sexual... I mean... tusks and green skin? Plus, Dave is adorably innocent and often clueless. However, though the sexual content of this book was zilch, the squishy feelings are there in full force.
I really enjoyed the fun plotline and sweet nature of this story. It was so PURE. Just adventure and hand holding and some bad guys and LOTS of dragons. I fell in love with all of the characters, and I didn't want it to end.
One of my favorites in the series (but best read in order and not as a stand-alone), Socially Orcward was a fun, surprisingly romantic romp.

Can you die from a cuteness overload? Because I need life support right now.
If you know me at all, you know I love weird and adorable things and This! Was! Adorable!
An asexual, extremely literal Orc named Dave, who blushes purple and fosters baby dragons, finds his soul mate and best friend in Simon, a sweet human in a bit of a predicament. This misunderstood Orc, who maybe lacks book-smarts, proves his worth and rescues his person by trusting his instincts (he calls them stinks), riding dragons and smashing heads. This was funny, cute and unexpectedly heartwarming. It reads like a fairytale and is slightly childish but that just ads to its charm. However lots of sexual euphemisms and innuendo - so not for kids.
Very easy listen, nicely narrated, and a fun way to spend an afternoon.

I don't care if a book has no romance. The last book I read before this had none.
I don't care if the couple are both asexual. One of my favorite books ever is about an asexual couple.
How to Be a Normal Person
But, I don't enjoy characters that are just plain stupid. I know, I know, it's supposed to be charming. Except, it isn't.
I just couldn't feel it.
So, I dnf'ed the last book in a series that I have loved so far.

This had everything I didn't know I needed. An asexual gay romance, orcs and dragons. Aaand one of the heros was an orc! This was so sweet and adorable without being cringy and I adored listening to the audiobook. Normally I would kick myself lightly for starting the series on the third book but I'm so happy I started here. Will most definitely pick the rest up.

I enjoyed this cute and funny story, I should look for similar books with ace characters. Some people are nastier versions of Loth, because they can’t wrap their tiny horny brains around the concept. Making one feel like they're missing out or something more ridiculous 🙄

Oh my heart. If you want to read something that will fill you with joy and love, with excellent ace rep and acceptance, you gotta read this story. I couldn't put this story down, I was so invested in the storytelling and the characters.
I jumped into this one without having read the first two books - something I will be rectifying, let me tell you - and apparently this book takes place overlapping events from book 2. There were definitely a few things I didn't understand since I didn't have the full story, but once I figured out who everyone was, I was good to go. And really, this was Simon and Dave's story and the focus was on them for the most part.
Dave is the most cinnamon roll orc I think I have ever read about. And I love him dearly. The way he just sees the world, his lack of understanding of human sarcasm and sass, his unconditional love for his dragons, and that same love for Simon - his person. Oh my goodness, my heart melted.
Honestly, the humor in this was great too - seeing the words that Dave thought they were, not understanding the more complex words and confusing Scott and the kings. I just loved it. I love this orc in a human world.
Both Simon and Dave would identify as homo/bi/pan?-romantic asexuals (I'm not sure on the romantic identity aspect since their past potential romances aren't really brought up), and I love that although Dave's friends don't get it, everyone is cool with it. And I love that for both Dave and Simon it's a simple as just not wanting the physical stuff that comes with sex, but still wanting hugs and affection and the comfort of knowing they have found *their person*. I mean, they compare it to collecting truffles and I just chuckled.
HIGHLY recommended, and now I want to go back and read the previous books! Just LOVED this!!!

Ugh now I have to somehow pick a favorite between this book and book 2 because this book was just absolutely delightful! I really wasn’t sure what to expect for Dave’s book, but really this book would’ve exceeded any expectations I did have. It was just so adorable, laugh out loud funny from pretty much the first page, and full of everything I’ve come to love from this series. Dave and Simon made me smile more than should be possible, made my heart hurt at times, and definitely made me wish I had a dragon of my own!

Dave has been one of my favorite characters since the first book and this book just made me love him more. I love that there was no sexual undercurrent. Just two guys bonding over dragons and falling in love.

absolutely lovely, heartwarming, genuinely adorable & wonderfully engaging. laughed out loud a couple of times.
and, while still keeping the story light & fluffy & wonderful, (imo) the authors have done a decent job* of illustrating how …. pervasive(?) assumptions of allosexuality are, and not just in the form of harassment.

OWRC. MY. GAWD! This was AWE-mazing!

I was somewhat disappointed after reading book 2 in the series, but "Socially Orcward" made up for it and then some!
Another huge plus in this book is a little girl, who is absolutely awesome. One of the very few books with kids that is perfection!

It had been a while since I closed a book and sighed the word "awwww" after I finished it. This one is the BEST of this series so far. Not only it featured two wonderful characters - the precious Dave, the orc with childlike innocence, the Royal Dragon Wrangler ... and his kind human Simon Perrin, who might be in such predicament when this book started but Dave's dragons realized his gentle heart nonetheless.
I loved how the two taking care of the baby dragons - and THE DRAGONS ARE AMAZING!!! I loved "seeing" the world from Dave's eyes because of his (sometimes) literal thinking made everything amusing to me. I loved that this book had no sex because they both were asexual beings, so it was all about cuddles, and hugs, and sharing pies.
I was bit worried in the middle though, with Simon's problem, that it would be unnecessary being stretched out too long... but apparently it ended up with fun adventures of flying the dragon and stroming thecastle tower. So yeah, that was fun.

Omg, how is this possible, to create such a magnificent story! It was everything! I laughed out loud because of the delightful humor, it was just what I needed.
I’m not sure how these authors did it but from having a silly smile one moment, tears were dripping down my face the next.
It all so kind, lovable, and endearing. Dave, the giant orc, is uncomplicated and honest.
His vocabulary is small and even his interpretation isn’t always correct so it was kind of endearing and hilarious at the same time.
I’ll tell you, simple isn’t stupid. Dave may be simple with a small vocabulary, but he has a big, warm, beautiful heart, he knows and sees exactly what’s important in life, his heart and eyes saw Simon!
Simon is the new kitchen boy who, in no time, upgraded as Dave his right hand, taking care of the dragons and dragon eggs.
Dave lives in the Dragon tower and as his assistant, Simon is now too. Simon knows a lot about dragons and sometimes he has a sad expression on his face.
Dave and Simon like each other very much. It’s as they’ve been made for each other. But Simon has a secret, one that will destroy Dave and certainly their friendship and maybe even the whole kingdom.
It was such a fabulous story, with unique characters, altogether a silly bunch of friends and/or lovers, living in the kingdom of Aguillon, where Quinn and Loth are kings. The authors did an amazing job! The humor was so much fun.
I’ll give one example to get an idea:
“Egg and spinach,” Dave said, proud of himself for remembering the term. “You know, spyin’ and lyin’.”
Ada’s lips quirked into a smile. “Espionage?”
“’S’what I said.”
This story is full of them.
The dragons we meet are all adorable and awesome. Pie oh my gosh Pie, the ‘killer fingerdragon’ who lives in Dave’s shirts. He’s unknowingly part of Simon’s dark secret.
The magic of cuddles and holding hands, my heart be still. Dave and Simon are the sweetest together.
I can’t say it enough, it’s a fabulous story, entertaining to the extreme, funny and emotional, the plot was fascinating with extraordinary characters. Super enjoyable and uplifting!

Talk about ace-representation! I was eager to know Dave’s story and I got everything I wanted and so much more!
On one hand, we have the orc Dave, who’s a bit dense but always means well; he, who takes care of his dragons, specially his venomous finger-dragon Pie. On the other, we have Simon, a golden boy who also loves dragons, yet, has a role to perform and something to steal in order to save his parents.
Dave and Simon are absolutely cute together and despite the circumstances around them, they find friendship and love in each other. They clearly see the other for who they are instead of just wanting to hump each other (like Quinn and Loth). They find intimacy and happiness in the little things and at the end of the day, they’re perfect for each other.
Just like the previous books, this is a joyful mix of comedy, romance and fantasy. All of these characters are charming and they all feel like one big found family that it just makes you smile from beginning to end. I loved the sense of humor and it just made my days brighter.
But this one was important to me ‘cause it’s the first time I see a couple of asexuals guys as the main characters. To see myself represented in a book is pure bliss and I could not recommend it enough. Plus, the narrator does a terrific job as always and he made this book even better!

Unfortunately, my opinion isn't as high for this book as the others. Less mutilated pop culture...Benedict Bumbercatch? Scott's always good for a laugh & gives it his all.
Dave & Simon are ace or aro without being specific. You see them trip over each other & catch some feels. There's no real sex so it could be labled as romantic fiction? Romantic fantasy?
...and dragons!!! Im kinda with Dave on this..Everything is better with dragons!
Im pleased its KU rather than buy.

Oh, wow!!!
OK people, I’m going to talk about the new book of Lisa Henry and Sara Honey, that actually is the third one from Adventures in Aguillon series called Socially Orkward.
It was love from the first paragraph, until the last word for me!
We all adore Quinn and Loth in the first book, and we all wanted to know more about all the characters involved in the rescue and helping Quinn to fight for his rights for the throne. The real heroes- as Dave and Pie, who were totally essential on the way to get a HEA for the Kings.
Finally, we got our wish!
I’ve got to tell you all, this book absolutely exceeded my expectations.
I can’t even describe to you, how much I adore Dave- the green, clumsy ( if he will gently tap you on the back, you’ll definitely end up on the floor), not the brightest star in the sky, with soft and tender and possibly green insides, that make him absolutely wonderful and adorable. He is naïve and yes, a bit awkward, but so sweet and kind to people and especially his babies- dragons. And he was a bit lonely, until Simon saw him for what he was. He saw Dave not as an ugly, dumb Orc (some ppl were not too nice to him), with absolutely no ability to sing or whisper, but all little quirks of Dave made him value and appreciate the green giant.
Its hard sometimes for Dave to decipher some things when people like Loth or Ada talk to him, and he has a difficulty with understanding hidden drift of some phrases and remembering big words, actually turning them in their head into the things that not even close to what they mean.
You will laugh, when you’ll read how he interpret the hidden implication of words like espionage ( eggs and spinach), political relations ( fellations in his case), date night, which after Ada’s explanation, has nothing to do with fruit, and so many more.
The brilliance of the authors, is that they made such a clever, witty roundabout play with the words, it just made reading it so much fun, sarcasm, and humor, interlaced with squishy, warm feelings- all my favorite things in one package! I am so sold, just wrap it nice in the HEA and there you go, another fantastic read from Lisa Henry and Sara Honey.
We will meet Quinn and Loth again, with Loth actively meddling and playing matchmaker, pushing Dave and Simon together to the point that Quinn has to wrangle him to back off.
Scott made a quite of a comeback, not being better actor than he was a hero, but shining as a sidekicker ( Dave’s word) and getting his stint with fifteen minutes of fame.
Oh, and sweet, but wickedly clever Pie, with absolutely unflappable intuition (hard word and when you’ll say “Intuitive” Dave will wish you a “Gesundheit”), who again helped to rescue himself, Simon and even the kingdom. His brother Bobo ( the flying, flame throwing, not great with landing yet, dragon ) and Petal, who everyone thinks is ugly, except her Daddies- Dave and Simon, Inky, who’s a little devilish, in the sweetest way possible.
Simon’s mom and dad raised him to be a beautiful human and he will prove it to you time and time again, even when he pushed to commit something regrettable by being “under dress” ( duress is the word to make Dave scratch his head).
Also, as much as I love sexy scenes in other books, this one was absolutely perfect as it is, and I haven't missed any of the explicit stuff in it. Dave's and Simon's relationship is so pure and innocent, and so full of feelings that it doesn't need an addition of physical expression in the least.
I think, by far it is my favourite in the series. I know, I shouldn't have favorites, but even Dave singles out Pie and Simon, though he loves the rest of his babies dearly.
I am absolutely, one hundred percent sure that you will find this book a total pleasure to read and give it a five star reviews, as you will find it irresistible!

You will laugh, when you’ll read how he interpret the hidden implication of words like espionage ( eggs and spinach), political relations ( fellations in his case), date night, which after Ada’s explanation, has nothing to do with fruit, and so many more.
The brilliance of the authors, is that they made such a clever, witty roundabout play with the words, it just made reading it so much fun, sarcasm, and humor, interlaced with squishy, warm feelings- all my favorite things in one package! I am so sold, just wrap it nice in the HEA and there you go, another fantastic read from Lisa Henry and Sara Honey.
We will meet Quinn and Loth again, with Loth actively meddling and playing matchmaker, pushing Dave and Simon together to the point that Quinn has to wrangle him to back off.
Scott made a quite of a comeback, not being better actor than he was a hero, but shining as a sidekicker ( Dave’s word) and getting his stint with fifteen minutes of fame.
Oh, and sweet, but wickedly clever Pie, with absolutely unflappable intuition (hard word and when you’ll say “Intuitive” Dave will wish you a “Gesundheit”), who again helped to rescue himself, Simon and even the kingdom. His brother Bobo ( the flying, flame throwing, not great with landing yet, dragon ) and Petal, who everyone thinks is ugly, except her Daddies- Dave and Simon, Inky, who’s a little devilish, in the sweetest way possible.
Simon’s mom and dad raised him to be a beautiful human and he will prove it to you time and time again, even when he pushed to commit something regrettable by being “under dress” ( duress is the word to make Dave scratch his head).
Also, as much as I love sexy scenes in other books, this one was absolutely perfect as it is, and I haven't missed any of the explicit stuff in it. Dave's and Simon's relationship is so pure and innocent, and so full of feelings that it doesn't need an addition of physical expression in the least.
I think, by far it is my favourite in the series. I know, I shouldn't have favorites, but even Dave singles out Pie and Simon, though he loves the rest of his babies dearly.
I am absolutely, one hundred percent sure that you will find this book a total pleasure to read and give it a five star reviews, as you will find it irresistible!

My absolute favourite. I laughed.
I cried. I cheered.
An asexual orc. A human who isn't quite what he seems. And dragons.
Not to mention bad men, travelling players, more dragons, and a daring rescue.

This book was so sweet. An awkward guy who is ace with sex aversion, which was one of my favourite things about this book.
An Orc who is as sweet and cuddly as he has always been, this tower of dragons and you get to learn so much more about them. And he pulls so many emotions out of you.
This book lines up into the same timeline as book 2, it’s not necessary to read Elf Defense though I do think it not only spoils that a little, but I think it def helps if you know at least Dave’s involvement into the whole things. You do however have to read Red Heir. And you should, really just read them in order.
Oh, and Scott was great, I really enjoyed his involvement through this book, another thing that would help if you have read book 1.

Real rating 1.5 stars so rounded up to 2 stars. So, bit of a confession, erm... I... I only purchased this book because of the cover. You know the old saying 'never judge a book by its cover' well for this book that couldn't be truer. This was soooo dull. I disliked every second of reading this, didn't like any of the main or side characters, they all felt a bit 2 dimentional.

DNF at 51%.
I wanted to like a cozy story of a literal-minded orc. But it felt like it was written for a 9-year old and then spiced up. It didn’t work for me.
1. The two main characters are both a bit simple/dim in their own ways. Dave, the orc, seems to fit the same spot as Amelia Bedelia, a character in my childhood chapter books who didn’t understand word play, nuance, double entendre, or multiple meanings to words. In that chapter book series, we get Amelia sitting down and using a pencil on paper to “draw the curtains” rather than move the curtains to one side of the window. And that’s the flavor I get from Dave. In middle grade/chapter books, this kind of character allows the author to educate the young reader by explaining long words or more complicated ideas. There’s only so much of this kind of thing I can handle in an adult book.
Simon also comes off as a little simple and naïve.
2. There is so much romance and sex referenced in this book that it’s NOT a children’s story. Every other character seems to be paired up and ready to get raunchy while one of the main characters awkwardly (in Simon’s case) or naively (in Dave’s case) doesn’t know how to deal with the sexual acts/discussions. Both of these characters happen to be asexual. They want a person, but they don’t want to deal with the squicky physical stuff. This whole storyline also puts this firmly into the adult category. But it's written so simply, I don't relate to the characters.
3. Dave has a dragon hatchery, but the provenance of these eggs is not discussed at all. Sure, he talks about releasing them into the wild, but there’s a casualness to “taking” eggs from places and “giving” eggs to people that reeks of early zoos combined with modern species conservation. Zoos make me super uncomfortable. Nowadays, they make the case that zoos are essential for certain species to survive.
But the only reason zoos are necessary for conservation of species is because we have taken too many of the animals from their habitat and or ruined their habitat. I have a hard time hearing Dave getting all excited about “finding” a dragon egg that he’s “giving” to Simon without any acknowledgement about adult dragons, the difficulty of a dragon to assimilate back into the wild (especially one that hasn't been raised by dragons), the importance of habitat/environment/older individuals to train young dragons in survival skills, and the protection of individuals in place rather than the removal to a tower room far away from the natural environment.
Sure, you might say this is too much to include in a fantasy novel… but this is obviously set in a world influenced by the modern mindset towards sex and relationships… and even has a fantasy-style “open mic” night. It is bizarre that a being so loving and caring of the species would not also acknowledge how he makes sure they are healthy as he restores them back to the wild. They have plenty of nerdy convos about dragons. Why wouldn’t this include something about how he’s careful about only taking dragon eggs that were abandoned, or rescuing dragon eggs that were stolen, etc?

The perfect ending to the trilogy -- Scott was even surprisingly helpful in this one! I absolutely adore Dave and Simon's relationship and the ace representation here. Dave has always deserved to have a wonderful partner, and Simon certainly fits. Standing ovation for sure!

I absolutely loved this book. It was sweet and funny. Not a lot of romance since Simon and Dave don’t really see the point of that kinda stuff but I still enjoyed the development between the two. I liked seeing characters from the first novel (this one takes place at the same time as the second book). I really enjoyed Ada and Ser Graylord!! I highly recommend this book!! After all, who wouldn’t want to read about a dragon loving, Orc finding “his person”?!?!?!

This was my favorite of the series by far!!!! I absolutely loved it and to think I almost didn't read it, stupid me. It was so very sweet in a really innocent way. The story made me laugh (Dave cracks me up) and it made me teary, what a great read.

Funny with a side of the warm fuzzies
This book was so cute. I wasn't expecting it to tug on my heartstrings so adamantly. This book is the long-expected story of Dave, the orc, and his Simon. The plot was predictable but also full of dragons, humor, and a zany lovable characters with growth and development so I can't really complain. I enjoyed it immensely and I look forward to any sequel that might follow.🐲🐉💕
