This fairly detailed guidebook to India's stunning Taj Mahal includes a number of detailed photos taken inside and out to further help the reader grasp its magnificence. Taking approximately 20,000 workers over 20 years to build in the 17th century, it honors Mumtaz Mahal, wife of Emperor Shah Jahan, who died giving birth to her 14th child in 18 years. If ever love of husband for wife, and his deep grief at her untimely loss, have left a visible presence felt down through the centuries, this must be it.
