I’ve wanted to write books for adults for as long as I can remember but I was too scared to try. One day I decided to be brave and dipped a toe into the bubble bath of romantic comedy with my first novella, Cupidity, and I’ve never looked back. I often try to be funny to be funny, except for when faced with traffic wardens and border control staff. My favourite thing is making people smile.

I’ve tried many jobs over the years, from barmaid to market researcher and I even had a brief flirtation with modelling. These days I am mostly found writing.

I live near London with my grey tabby cat, Portia. We both have an unhealthy obsession with Marmite.

My favourite season and another great story. Mixing the sisters past and present together. Nessie and Sam are both so relatable to and it's hard to choose which one you like best.

I may as well get started by presenting the reviews so far to get you up to speed (I would say these can be read as standalones but they’re too nice so you may as well go back!):

Snowdrops at the Star and Sixpence

Valentine’s Day at the Star and Sixpence

Summer at the Star and Sixpence

or you could preorder A Year At The Star and Sixpence which is out 29th December 2016 and read them all as one lovely book (I am quite jealous you can do this;)

Now I have to admit, I always knew the Autumn edition of this gorgeous series would be for me. I adore Autumn. We live in the country and I’m one of those annoying people who tells their kids to savour the splendour of the autumnnal colours when they grace the trees lining the roadway approaching our abode (I don’t say it in this way, it’s more like ‘LOOK’-in the manner of a school teacher- ‘now how lucky are you to live on a road that has such amazing colours on it, look at the reds, the golds, the oranges, isn’t t so beautiful, aren’t we lucky, well AREN’T WE?’ Yes I suck a bit of life out of it, but now they have started looking they do appreciate it!) , and who takes pictures of said trees before they lose it all. And so, when I approached this book, I knew I would bask in the whole gloriousness of the imagery, and bask I did. I can tell you now that this book matched ‘Snowdrops’ for me, which had been my favourite book of the Star and Sixpence so far, and perhaps surpasses it.

The romance was ramped up, with a possible love triangle, that didn’t seem to be an equal triangle, but was there all the same. Owen and Nessie made me smile and say ‘aw’ out loud (it was fine, there was nobody around!) and in general I actually began to wonder if this was the final installment (it wasn’t, the Christmas edition, available here , is the ending and I think this will be my Christmas sit down and chill out book for this year!).

As always, the goings on of the pub put me right there, as well as the locals’ involvement in the book, this time with Ruby taking my breath away. There was the added drama of Patrick, Nessie’s soon to be ex-husband, turning up, worryingly with an interest in The Star and Sixpence. Sam, as always, was on fire, and made me smile regularly, and nod along. Nessie, being Nessie, was still a bit negative for me, but it didn’t impact too much to be honest. As for the ending, a boulder formed in the bottom of my stomach that made me want to go trawling the streets for someone who had read it, asking ‘Can you believe that just happened? Can you?’ (This was where I flew to Amazon worrying that we had just been left, but we hadn’t. Phew!)

This was one of my standouts for 2016, with drama, smile out loud moments, heartache and all round gorgeousness that put Holly Hepburn firmly as a force to be reckoned with on the romantic comedy scene.

Rating: 5/5 (if I could unread it so that I could let it all wash over me again I would!)

Star and Sixpence - Autumn

My favorite season, how could I not love this.
Also a masked ball, stargazing, hot cocoa, comfy sweaters and sitting by a fire place.

As autumn starts to draw in and the nights are getting darker, the fire is lit at the Star and Sixpence and Nessie and Sam start to turn their thoughts to the annual bonfire night. The village comes together every year to celebrate the turning of the season and this year is going to be extra-special.

This book is the 4th part of the Star and Sixpence story. It is set a little while after the third book ended. Halloween is approaching and the girls have a big party planned.

Things are going slowly but well with Nessie and Owen, that is until Nessie's soon to be ex husband shows up wanting to rekindle their relationship.

Things for Sam are finally starting to quieten down after the scandal of the summer but this book mainly focuses on Nessie,Owen and Patrick.

This is a lovely quick read that leaves you wanting more. Luckily I already had Christmas at the Star and Sixpence so I didn't have to leave the girls for very long. I love Holly's writing and I can't wait to see what next year brings for her.

Book 3 of a 4 part book series, been wanting to read this set of books for ages. Note to readers, you can either read this as a 4 part book series or there is a full length novel which includes all of the 4 parts. The choice is yours.

So book three has been fun and entertaining, fair bit of drama. Nessie finally sorts things out with Patrick and thankfully doesn’t fall back under his lies and she makes a move on Owen, yay. As for Sam, well I can’t decide whether I should be routing for her/Joss or her/Nick, won’t lie all seems hot and exciting with Nick but I feel that might end up running it’s course and Joss will end up winning the permanent spot in her life, guess we’ll find out in book 4 the last book

So without further ado, I am heading into the last book to the series, book 4.

I've lost count of which number this book is in the series, but I have loved every one of them. We're still following the main characters of sisters, Sam and Nessie who were left the Star and Sixpence public house by their late father.

I am absolutely loving this series and have the next one downloaded and ready to read.

3.5 ⭐️

Enjoying series of books - nice easy read whilst on summer hols.
However I will agree with Sam re her sister Nessie in the book. So indecisive and faffy - it would drive me mad as well 😂. Everything is so ridiculously slow with her.

An awesome short book, that was perfect reading for my plane journey.

I might have jumped in half way through the series without even realizing but it was so well written it wasn't a problem. This actually wants me to go back and start from book 1 :-)

Another enjoyable saga at the village pub. My only complaint was the abrupt ending. Thankfully the next one was available to download from the library but sadly it doesn't seem to continue straight on where Autumn left off.
