Having had a busy day scaring mice and swatting at yarn balls, Kittycat settles down to purr a drowsy purr and go to sleep, in a lyrical poem that will help little kitties and children drift into peaceful slumber.
Eileen Spinelli is an award-winning children's book author from southeastern Pennsylvania. She has written over 100 picture books and novels for children. Her husband is Jerry Spinelli, who also writes books for children.
The smooth, lovely writing of Eileen Spinelli works perfectly with the art of Anne Mortimer in this book. I especially like the way that the cat's eyes are drawn, so lifelike and laden with energy. I can see Kittycat Lullaby being liked very much by cat lovers, especially by small children who have a cat, or love one. As a whole, the poem reads like a lullaby to a kitten, but parts of it sound very much like a lullaby that could calm the heart of any human child. I would probably give one and a half stars to this book.
I sang the words of this story to the tune of Brahms' lullaby and our girls just loved it. It's soothing and great for bedtime. We read this one several times.
