This introductory level textbook offers students a framework to begin building their intercultural communication skills. "Experiencing Intercultural Communication: An Introduction" provides a number of pedagogical aids to help students achieve fluency in these skills, including chapter outlines, chapter objectives, suggested websites and other resources for further learning, key terms, activities in each chapters, bulleted chapter summaries, and more. As an introductory text, the material is accessible and encourages students to seek out more information. By giving the students a framework to begin understanding the complexities of intercultural interaction, students begin the process of learning about both other cultures and their relationships with their own culture.
Read this one online, which is never my favorite experience. It’s okay for a communication textbook but not my favorite. Important topics though. Definitely everyone should learn more about intercultural communication in this day and age.
I wish the definitions in this text would be better developed. You cannot define the word using the word(s) in the definition. One should not have to use the internet to define the vocabulary words.
This is a very dry, albeit thorough book on Intercultural Communication. I will continue to use it because it is mostly unbiased and does give a thorough overview of the issues and communications studies in general.
This is an excellent book to begin to understand culture, one's own, those around one and how we can communicate with each other. Yes, it's a textbook, but a course and a textbook for real life. Highly recommend to anyone.
