In his trademark tell-it-like-it-is style, Dr Phil McGraw presents an enlightening and entertaining workshop on how to get-real - in relationships and in life. He explains how to live by design, as opposed to living reactively and urges you to step out of the comfort zone by evaluating everthing in your life.
Phillip Calvin McGraw, best known as Dr. Phil, is an American television personality, psychologist and author who is the host of the psychology themed television show Dr. Phil. He gained celebrity status following appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
(Listened to the audiobook) Topics are allll over the place, and the best and most actionable advice came within the last 10 minutes. I am still open to listening to more Dr. Phil though lol
This is an audio book on Dr. Phil speech at a workshop on realtionship. Here are several important points he made:
1. Life, you set it up. 2. Your relationship is supported by your life style. 3. Your relationship with yourself determine your relationshio with anybody else. 4. Quality of relationship is a function of extent to which it's based on solid underlying friendships and how will it meets the need of each party.
Dobra knjiga moderne psihologije. Dovela me do nekih spoznaja koje ću imati u vidu u budućem životu. Unatoč svemu mislim da je knjiga dobra i kvalitetno napisana. Cijelu je ne bih ponovno čitala, već bi se samo fokusirala na ono što je bitno. I imate i nemate moju preporuku. 🙂
Dr. Phil narrates his own audio book giving the listener supreme listening experience while directing his very on point life strategies . Advice doesn't get much better.
Cant not mention he is hilarious while being so very real. During my commute I found myself getting educated and laughing out loud.
I listened to this audio book to help me decide on a new year's resolution. I felt like I was sitting in his TV audience. He relates almost everything to his personal life and his own experiences. Nothing majorly inspiring. He tries to teach you to live life by design as opposed to reacting to everything in your life. Is your life working for you? If not, how are you going to change it?
These are a couple of quotes I like
“People have the right to think and say whatever they want to. But you have the right not to take it to heart, and not to react.”
“Sometimes you make the right decision, sometimes you make the decision right.”
If you have ever watched Dr. Phil's tv show then you'very probably heard all of this before. He does make some good points, but I had to force myself to finish this book. I didn't find it particularly insightful or helpful. It may be great for someone else, but not for me. I prefer "self help" books that make me see things in a different way, change my way of thinking or inspire/move me. If you are looking for a book like that this one is probably not for you.
I did not read this because I was dying to read it. I read it to learn more about his type, the ESTJ. I am trying to get into the head of each type. There is some good info. in the book. Some ISFP's and INFP's could benefit from this book, yet they most likely would be offended by how blunt Dr. Phil is.
I really enjoyed this No nonsense, no psychobabble straightforward approach to taking control of your life and your relationships. Very insightful. I actually read multiple times and took notes. I actually got this on audio.
Good, direct to the point , i love it and i think one time reading is not enough. Because the second reading need to focus on the point you want to improve and evaluate your self. :)
