Author and bereavement counsellor Fay Bloor has worked with a talented illustrator, Michael Ashley, to put together this unique book to help someone through the emotions of grief. Missing You is a gentle, supportive activity book created to help adults navigate the many emotions that can follow the death of someone they love. Grief is different for everyone, and there is no single 'right' way to experience it. This book dispels common myths and misconceptions about grief, helping readers understand that their thoughts, feelings and experiences are valid. Through activities, reflection and practical ways to cope, readers can explore their emotions, find ways to support themselves through difficult days, and make space for memories of the person they have lost. The book also features a section called 'Things I Wish I'd Known About Grief', a collection of honest and heartfelt insights from members of the author's bereavement group, offering reassurance and real-life experiences that remind readers they are not alone. Rather than offering a timeline or telling you how to grieve, Missing You provides a safe space to reflect, understand and find your own way through loss.
Fay has worked with bereaved people since leaving school at the age of 17. Originally training as a Funeral Arranger, she went on to specialise in bereavement support a few years later. Fay now runs support groups and has curated programmes in her local community on behalf of Dandelions Bereavement Support. In 2020 she qualified as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, allowing Dandelions to expand its support once services again to offer bereavement counselling.
