I didn't realize this was a more educational book. Or that it would be quite so simplistic. Great for kids. Kind of tedious for adults. But the stories were interesting. I'd like to read more details about them.
This expository text was purchased for fourth grade students at my school as part of our summer reading program. I imagine it will be difficult for some due to the genre and medical vocabulary. However, the book was well written. It features the real-life individual stories of seven different teens and how medical advances saved their lives. It contains a glossary to help with unfamiliar terms, diagrams, captions, sidebars, comprehension questions, and other handy features to guide comprehension. I think it's a great choice for middle grade readers who like to read nonfiction.
This book is about people with different medical problem that might not survive at any point. But because we have good medications today these people all survived. Some of the medical problems that it talks about are deaf, heart, arms...
