De Niro

Rate this book
The first full-length biography of Robert De Niro, widely considered to be the finest and most powerful film actor of his generation. Including a filmography and 32 photos. Enigmatic, intensely private, passionately dedicated to his particular style of Method acting, Robert De Niro has long been perceived as the successor to Marlon Brando and James Dean. Drawing on exclusive conversations with the actor's friends and colleagues, John Parker has traced De Niro's life from his birth in Greenwich Village to his current superstardom. He also sheds light on De Niro's many relationships and explores in detail his films, including ``Taxi Driver,'' ``The Deer Hunter,'' and ``Casino,'' along with his Oscar-winning performances in ``The Godfather, Part II'' and ``Raging Bull.'' De Niro is the first major biography of this uniquely dedicated actor, who is perhaps the greatest screen talent of our day. Among John Parker's previous books are Polanski, Five for Hollywood, and King of Fools. 254 pp 4 1/2 x 7 32 b/w photos

It's a bit old, so you'll only get insights into the legend's life up to Heat, but it's informative and worth a look.
