In this fabulous book you will learn the art of preserving foods, making your own soft cheeses, fermented foods, breads, and even beer. The author has an engaging manner of writing and a sense of humor. This is an old fashioned book you will want to read on a rainy day just because. I recommend curling up with some homemade bread, olive oil and glass of wine. DIG IN!

Great cook book for those of us who would like to ( and might have tried) old world traditions of curing, preserving and pickling.

This intrepid writer somehow makes it all seem like a mystical wonderful adventure to set out on with her as an experienced enthusiastic guide.

Grace Firth was a Goddess, long may her works and luminous writing be revered!!

I thought the book would be more on what a still-room is/was, what it does, how to make one. A bit of history. The book has mostly recipes.
