Devoted wife Kira is devastated when she learns her husband, Mark has cheated on her. Desperate to escape the betrayal, she runs away with free-spirited Rain, even though they only met the night before.
With both women seeing their own answers to life's biggest questions, they travel through Victoria, Australia, meeting new people along the way-with only some being friendly. All the while being profoundly touched by the spiritual culture within the natural landscapes.
Despite her sublime surroundings, Kira remains heartbroken over Mark's betrayal, as losing him means losing her very foundations. But is there any truth in second chances? Travelling on the open road with Rain brings her to new horizons-both in her life and her heart.
This story covers what it means to be lost, to be searching for answers in a forever unpredictable world of flawed yet wonderful people. Also, what happens when love has blurred your vision for so long that it takes something extraordinary to really open your eyes again.
I was born in London and, from an early age, found every kind of book fascinating. I have travelled extensively, and I think this has fuelled my imagination, as I have been blessed with meeting so many interesting people and learned so much from them.
Despite appearances, I am an intensely private person and I believe, that's why I need to write, it allows me the freedom to explore emotions, without having to show too much of myself to the world.
For all that technology has to offer, I will always believe the best place to be is curled up somewhere and being lost in a really good book. I aspire to hopefully write one!
A wonderfully descriptive and immersive road trip tale. The story focuses on the friendship between two women. Kiera is lost after a cruel betrayal by her husband and the end of her marriage. Rain is searching for something, although she doesn’t quite know what. The women they meet along the way a bursting with life and hints of past mysteries. Well worth a read.
I knew the author wouldn't let me down! This is a heartwarming story about a woman finding her place in a country that she thought was not her own. Kira is an odd duck, very much out of water, and the story is about her meeting friends who move heaven and earth to help her. Kira is a lucky woman, really, for that. AB Turner does two things very very well. She does friendships, particularly friendships between women and groups of women, and descriptions. This is set in Australia and it is clear that while we follow Kira as she breathes in the air and is awestruck by the mountains, that the author has seen that too. The immersion in the description is way past Google. It's a simple story, but a heartwarming one. I recommend.
