Peter Norton (born November 14, 1943) is an American programmer, software publisher, author, and philanthropist. He is best known for the computer programs and books that bear his name. Norton sold his PC software business to Symantec Corporation in 1990.

Ah, those were the days. The IBM PC had been introduced (1982) and people could have a computer in their house. No Internet, of course. Just diskettes and a text-based screen. We were hobbyists. Trying to understand the machine and its software -- ooperating system and applications. This book was a good introduction.

This was an excellent book of the time to detail exactly what is going on inside a computer. The ideas still hold true today.
