Silvercat is a ski resort in transition between small-time and medium-time. The Grey Lady is the mountain over-arching the ski resort.

Murphy Davis is a Deputy Sheriff with old shoulder and leg injuries, tho he's young & handsome. Sara Nichols is the reporter for the local newspaper, Charlotte is her boss. Jock is Murphy's German Shephard, AJ (Awesome Jugs?) is the bartender. Merrill the Feral is a Frankenstein-like character who shows up at an appropriate time. And then there's the murderer, who turns up often, to Murphy's consternation, who is a surprise, guessed at by the Toya Jaleca, the wigged-out shrink.

There are old-time people from the resort and the surrounding Indian land, like Jessie DePriest, who goes to a secret place up on the Grey Lady, with peyote buttons. And new people, who want it to be a huge resort, which it is becoming.

I wish there had been more Indian infusions, and less murders, but it was an okay story.
