Scars Set In Stone is an exquisite collection of poetry divided into four chapters. Each chapter serves a different purpose. The chapters are For The Scarred, For the Loving, For the Oppressed, and For the Healing. This book teaches you to love yourself and others. It teaches the difficulty of dealing with past traumas and the journey towards healing, despite when it feels as if your scars are set in stone. It's better experienced than described, so sit down with some coffee and allow yourself to feel-- and heal.
This is actually the better of Lucas's books. I felt like it was talking to me, saying everything I needed to hear. 20 highlights all by me. I thoroughly enjoyed this reading experience, full of poetry about self love, self worth, and the world
Last year when I was on my poetry binge, I discovered Adeline Whitmore and I loved the first book I read of hers so much that I read the other three she had published. After I finished She Was The Storm, that directness had reminded of Adeline Whitmore, so I went to search if she had put out anything new since last year. While she hasn’t, there was a couple of results that came up from different authors and though I didn’t recognize them, I thought I’d check them out since I assumed they’d be in a similar vein as Ms. Whitmore’s writings since they popped up with her. Scars Set In Stone was the first different option, so I decided to start with it and oh my gosh, I loved this book so much! It definitely had similar vibes to Ms. Whitmore’s books and was just what I was hoping for. Shenaia Lucas wrote one amazing collection, I can’t get over it!
I feel like Scars Set In Stone has everything you could want. Shenaia Lucas gives great advice that isn’t difficult at all to grasp and she does it in a loving, helpful, warm way. You can feel the care, gentleness, and acceptance that she had and took while she was writing a lot of her poems and I loved that. I also loved that in the third chapter that she didn’t pull any punches when talking about people who are oppressed. She just told it how it is and she was so right about all of it.
Scars Set In Stone is seriously outstanding and one of my favorite poetry collections this year I’ve read so far and I have no doubt it will stay that way until 2022 is over. I am absolutely going to read her again and I can’t wait for that to happen!
Do not despair that you have not healed already A flower does not bloom the day the seed is planted. It takes time but the result is always so much more beautiful than before. -the day to bloom will come🤍
It's good for me, collections of poetry but delivers the message well !
"just give yourself the time you need to heal properly you will find the strength to move on you will find your healing within yourself your scars are not set in stone."

Scars set in stone is another modern poetry set that I cannot get enough of. Though short and sweet, the words within the book make you feel things. Emotions rise up that you have forgotten and this piece just makes you want to rise up and conquer anything that stands in your way. It gives you the power to recognize how broken you are and gives you the emotions to thing of yourself as a warrior going through the war. Battle after battle. Scar after Scar. Like the synopsis says, it is better experienced than described and I stand by that statement completely.
I feel like this book was mediocre. Some of it was really really good, stood out, carried emotional impact, etc. but other parts seemed very cliche and dull. 3/5 Stars - A decent read
