Collins Complete DIY manual
MAJOR NEW EDITION
EASIER SAFER GREENER

By Albert Jackson and David Day

It does exactly what it says on the tin.’ The Times

The spiralling cost of professional builders and their renowned unreliability is an all too familiar story. Together with more homeowners converting or expanding properties themselves rather than shouldering the expense of either moving or employing a professional, the resulting increase in DIY labour around the home is no surprise. There has also been a marked rise in the number of those ‘buying to let’ and renovating properties themselves, keen to be a part of the lucrative property market.

This growth in the DIY industry coincides with the publication of one of the biggest titles to be published by Collins this year, a fully revised edition of the Number 1 bestseller, Collins complete DIY manual. The most comprehensive and authoritative Do-It-Yourself guide available, it is easier, safer and greener than ever before. Expert guidance will not only help you safely through any task, from rewiring a plug to installing a shower unit but will also allow you to ensure that a professionally finished job has been completed properly.

Fully updated with the latest regulations, including key electrical changes it provides at-a-glance information on what DIY work can be done and what needs to be notified to the local authority. For budding developers and DIY enthusiasts alike it is illustrated with completely new step-by-step photographs making no job too big or too difficult. From that list of small tasks that just keeps getting longer to the more complicated, urgent projects that need immediate attention, this dependable manual is not only an essential tool for the workshop but an ideal reference book for the family bookshelf.

Albert Jackson is the best-selling author of numerous DIY books including Good Housekeeping Do-it-Yourself Book, Complete Book of Tools, Care and Repair of Furniture and Outdoor DIY Projects. He has presented several BBC programmes on furniture restoration, including Better than New and Make Your Own Furniture.

Thought this seemed like a good DIY book - actually put it on my wishlist, since now that we own a house it seems like we need to have a good manual around!

This has to be the best DIY manual written. A permanent fixture in the bathroom next to a mug of tea!
