This collection of essays describes Froebel s life and the history of his influence on the education of young children in Britain. It also traces the religious roots of his philosophy and discusses his psychological and educational principles in the light of developments in these fields since his day. "
This has got to rate among my favourite introductions to Froebel. It is far more wide-ranging than suggested by the title. The philosophical background is invaluable, but more than anything it is so gratifying to find sympathetic engagement with Froebel's Christian worldview. So often the roots of his educational philosophy are quite ignored, if not denied.
