Abandoned outside a hospital, Rebecca didn't have a good start in life. She's soon adopted, but her new father can't warm to her, and her mother can't succeed in turning the plain, unresponsive child into the little princess she longs for.
When Rebecca's adoptive mother dies, her greedy aunt and crooked uncle take her in but theirs is not a happy home. Separated from her brother and left to fend for herself, soon her life is worse than ever. Withdrawing from the people around her, she longs to escape to the circus which visists her town, with its carefree life and freedom from the past - but will she ever find happiness?
Before becoming a writer, I was a Placement Support Worker and foster carer, and worked in the social services department after completing a teacher training course. Many children have joined my family over the years. I still live in Nuneaton, where many of my books are set, with my husband, Trevor, and our beloved dogs.
I was thrilled to discover that I'd become one of the top 250 most-borrowed library authors in the UK, and would like to thank all of you who have taken out my books over the last few years! I love meeting my readers and am always pleased to hear from you. I hope you will all continue to get in touch and please do sign up for my newsletter!
I have no words to express how much I hated this book. It is extremely poorly written, the characters don't seem real to me, the story doesn't have an appropriate pace, the story is very predictable... English is not my first language - although I'm proficient in it- and I usually don't care much for richness of language and writing style as long as the story is interesting, but this book is beyond hope. I only stuck with it because I wanted to see how much more I could hate it...
Lovely book set in & around the town I grew up in, Nuneaton. I lived on Hinckley Road, worked in Bedworth for a short time & then moved to Coventry. Rarely do you find a book set in that area and it was so good being transported back there
I never rate a book less than 3 starts before. I just hate this book, it was poorly written. Haven't done any research on foster program at all. it just humiliating the frosting program, once the girl in trouble, just kick her out and switch to another family. It doesn't work this way. The whole story line doesn't made sense at all. To be clear, I am not related to any forster program, but I read a look of real story/novel regarding Forster family. I was surprised I finish the book though.

This story has me hooked from start to finish. It shows how a life from baby to adult is in the hands of so many other people, and each map out Bex is life. For her it was such a heart breaking start,so sad,and so real, but leading to a wonderful life.Just shows how things can change.I think any one with a heart would be in Bex is corner.A all would enjoy this one.I have enjoyed every moment as I have all books I've ever read of Rosie,s.
I would recommend this book to anyone who hasn't read it. Very good storyline and characters are believable. Descriptions of various places made them feel very real. Just read this book, you'll not be disappointed if you are a Rosie Goodwin fan. 😺
The book was let down by poor editing. For instance in page 142 Alison became pat, page 153 there's a contradictory statement that doesn't make sense and page 193 has poor grammer. These are just the ones I took more of but mistakes like that can be distracting especially when the wrong names are used
Another great book and even though it is fictional I find myself wondering how everyone is getting on with their lives. I never want the story to end but then camper wait to start another novel by Rosie who is an amazing author who has great talent in bringing her stories to life. Thank you
I felt so sorry for Rebecca throughout this story, being rejected by so many people and her so young. Reading this story made me wonder how many children and teenagers went through this hardship and abuse in real life. I am so glad it ended on such a happy note, she thoroughly deserved it. Thank you Rosie
I found this a delightful story very true to real life. It just goes to show what life is like. I like this author her books are excellent. I am ready to start my next book. Enjoy whoever it next to read this book.
Rosie Goodwin never fails to draw you in to the story from the first page. A picture is painted in your mind straight away of all the characters who interact with the main character. Twists and turns, couldn't put the book down.
Could not wait to read this book the second one of Rosie Goodwin and it did not disappoint . Great story line great characters. Looking forward to the next book
Really enjoyed this read. Though I have given full marks the ending all came together a bit to easy for my liking, where everything works out. Still a great story though
An easy book to read, thoroughly enjoyed reading it, was like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, a young girl going through many hardships and emerging as a lovely young woman
