About the author

Margaret A. Hudson was born on 10 April 1943 in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, UK, of German extraction. She was daughter of Kathleen (Ramsden), an artist, and George Arthur Hudson, an architect. Married with Londoner Mike Pemberton, they have five grown children, today she lives with her husband and four small dogs in Whitstable, Kent. Apart from writing, her passions are tango, travel, English history and the English countryside.

Published since 1975, she is a bestselling romance writer as Margaret Pemberton, and under the pseudonyms Carris Carlisle; Maggie Hudson and Rebecca Dean. Having travelled extensively, her novels are set in different parts of the world. She was the fifteenth elected Chairman of the Romantic Novelists' Association (1989-1991), she has also served on the Crime Writers' Association Committee.

I can't stand the way Lissette treats her husband, Grey. Why she always tells lies and tries to deceive him instead of telling the truth for such a long long time? This puts them on the spot since Grey are suspicious of Dominic is Luke's son. He is a generous and warm-hearted person, he deserves sth better than this. I believe that with his character, although he knows the truth, he will forgive his wife's past and treats Dominic as his sons as he used to. And then she sleeps with Luke- who knows her secrets. Lisette is nothing more than a bitch. Dieter and Grey are both good men. Anyway, I'm impressed by Dieter more than a bit.
Besides that, I have to admit that I love the way the author describes the scenery.

I really liked the story ...WW II ,the love story and unhappy marriages ....it is my kind of book....I bought the second book to this ....(that's what I thought ) and was very disappointed to find out that "Violins of Autumn " is the same book !!!!! Its just newer edition of "Never Leave Me"....so...that's a bummer....Over all I enjoyed reading it !

I absolutely loved this book until Dieter was killed. I wish it had continued their love story and they had overcome their obstacles. I really didn't care for it after the baby, Dominic was born. I have re-read this section of the book several times wishing it would have had a different ending. I didn't care for Greg and the rest of the story.

Bởi vì quá kỳ vọng nên thất vọng càng lớn. Cuốn sách không hề gợn lên chút cảm xúc nào nào đối với mình. Quá mệt mỏi với cách yêu của Lisette! Cô nàng làm đau khổ tất cả những người yêu cô với những suy nghĩ ích kỷ, luôn cho mình là đúng.

Nhân vật ấn tượng nhất vẫn là Greg, chứ không phải Dieter. Than ôi, một người đàn ông bao dung, si tình, và thấu hiểu như thế mà chị Lisette nỡ lòng nào dằn vặt người ta bao năm trời🙏

I have read this book three times now and for someone who never reads a book twice this is quite something. I love this book and even though I know the ending I'm still on tenterhooks hoping the ending hasn't changed. LOL
I highly recommend this book to anyone young or old. I first read it when I was 18 then again when I was 26 and now again a little older, (44). Amazing.

I read this book when I was a teenager, impressed and touched deeply by the story and the men therein. I love the way all scenes were described, romantically, immemorially, unforgettably. I even was obsessed in a long time by the sound of waves and the light of the lighthouse. I like most the love story between Lissete and Dieter, true and passionate love.

Những ngày mưa và cuốn tiểu thuyết lãng mạn. Điều mình ưng đầu tiên là cuốn sách không có phần tóm lược như nhiều cuốn sách khác, người đọc chỉ có khám phá từng chương để tự cảm nhận theo cách của mình.

Mình thích nhất phần đầu cuốn sách. Câu chuyện rất "đàn bà" với tình yêu đẹp, lãng mạn. Với bối cảnh thời đại của cuộc chiến tranh thế giới thứ 2, giữa 2 con người ở 2 trận tuyến giữa Đức và phe đồng minh. Một cô gái Pháp trinh nguyên, xinh đẹp, ngây thơ, rất gợi cảm, và một chàng sĩ quan Đức quyến rũ, cực nam tính, mạnh mẽ, đầy thông minh. Giữa họ là tiếng gọi của trái tim, là tiếng nói của lý trí. Họ yêu nhau, một tình yêu thật giản dị. Một tình yêu đẹp và lãng mạn như trong mơ, họ nằm bên nhau, bên ngọn đèn dầu và lắng nghe sóng vỗ. Đọc tiểu thuyết trữ tình của Zola và không bao giờ bàn về chiến tranh. Trong thâm tâm, họ đều biết, chiến thắng của kẻ này là chiến bại của người kia. Hệ luỵ của chiến tranh bao giờ cũng đem lại đau thương, cho dù người ta cố tìm cách thay đổi nó.

Chuyện tình của Lisette và Meyer, với cái kết buồn của họ cho mình cảm nhận hơn vẻ đẹp của điều chúng ta vẫn nói: "Không có tình yêu vĩnh cửu mà chỉ có giây phút vĩnh cửu của tình yêu".

Mạch truyện rất thu hút, hấp dẫn, bản dịch mà từng ngôn từ được trau chuốt, đẹp đẽ, sinh động, đầy lôi cuốn. Rất đáng để đọc.

I love romance books, but I think they shouldn't be too sentimental or emotional. 'Never leave me' does a great job on that. The story involves mostly everything that lovers could understand: feelings, emotions, lust, pain, lies, love at first-sight... The author must have traveled a lot to describe the scenery so beautifully. She also gives a unique style: Setting up situations so simply but it becomes romantic. I really like the way the story goes. It's getting more and more surprising as I read. Also, how the characters react to love is fascinating.
