Charming children's story about a tiny steam locomotive who is teased by the larger, more powerful engines. He is abandoned at the end of a job building a dam and left at the bottom of the new lake. Years later, when the water is drained to repair the dam, little Half Pint is discovered, repaired and put in a park where little children can play with him. Based on a true story, the book is illustrated with graceful black and white drawings. 37 pages.

David Tank is a writer and photographer currently living in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He is a retired writing and mass communication senior lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Prior to becoming a full-time teacher, he was a newspaper and magazine editor, worked as senior writer for a major fraternal organization and directed the communication efforts of several not-for-profit organizations.

His life-long interest in 3-D photography led to the publication of "Wisconsin Wildflowers in 3D" and "The Magic of 3D Photography." He is an award-winning member of the National Stereoscopic Association and a collector of vintage stereoscopes and 3D cameras.

David's popular Postcards From the Past series features then and now pictures of local communities, featuring vintage postcard images paired with contemporary photos of the exact same scene today.

His children's books include "Half Pint," "The Lumberjack and the Eagle" and The Secret Santa Mystery series, which includes "Secret Santa: The Mystery of the Stereoscope" (#1), "Secret Santa: The Mystery of the Magic Watch (#2), "Secret Santa: The Mystery of the Lost Guitar" (#3) and "Secret Santa: The Mystery of the Moving Picture (#4). His most recent book are the cozy mystery books "The Secret of Blackbird Cabin." and "The Secrets of Foxglove Lodge."

The author is also an accomplished musician and songwriter.
