Moose Crossing

Rate this book
Moose is amazed when he sees a sign by the side of the road that says "Moose Crossing." He must be very important to have his own sign, although his best friend, Hildy, doesn't agree. When tourists arrive, hoping to catch sight of him, Moose finds he can't go anywhere without being recognized. Suddenly his life isn't as simple as it used to be. Maybe being famous isn't all that great. Stephanie Green's witty humor and Joe Mathieu's lively black-and-white artwork make this a not-to-be-missed transitional reading book.

This is a very easy beginning chapter book. Moose & Hildy, the pig, are best friends. Moose suddenly becomes famous when a "Moose Crossing" sign is placed near his home. He soon learns that fame comes with a price.....one he doesn't wish to pay. Moose learns that friendship is more valuable than fame. There are other easy chapter books featuring these characters, Hildy the pig and Moose.

When Moose sees a sign announcing "Moose Crossing", he feels he must be very important to have his own sign, although Hildy, his best friend, doesn't agree. Then the tourists arrive and won't leave Moose alone and he feels trapped in his own house. Whatever is Moose to do?

Moose Crossing was a good book, I enjoyed it. I loved the different disguises the moose had and how good of a friend the pig was.

Moose anticipates crowds of people coming to see him when a “Moose Crossing” sign is put up, but he quickly finds that popularity can be a nuisance. An amusing tale with short chapters and gray-scale cartoons on every spread, this is perfect for kids just beginning to read chapter books.
