When Kel McDonald told me that From Scratch had vampires and werewolves, my anti-supernatural radar wanted to relinquish any interest in the short story turned comic. Even after buying it, Kel signing it, and finally opening the book, I was still skeptical. The gritty art style of Jose Pimienta captured Kel's writing.

This was a quick read. A fun little urban fantasy short story set in the prohibition era that didn't stick with me long after completing it.

I enjoyed the concept of 1920s gangsters and horror fantasy. However, I would've liked to see more plot or character development. It all seemed too rushed with no real direction.
