Dark and sickening, this a book about a future you don't want to live in. Fantastically written, it will make your skin crawl from the very first page. Read it at night at your own peril!
I liked this world and I would like to read the other books in the series, but they are all out of print. I bought this book when it was first published and it sat on my shelf for the past five years. I didn't realize that it was published by Black Library and their books go out of print almost imediately.
A fun read. Seemed to me it tried a little too hard to be over-the-top-strange. I don't mind strange. I enjoy strange. It just seemed a little too shrill about being strange in parts, and that distracted me from immersing myself in the book.
If you like: Cyberpunk Dark humour Satires of hyper-capitalism Ridiculous and inventive plots …you will love this novel.
I stumbled upon the second one ‘Reality Bites’ in a secondhand shop. They’re out however rather expensive to buy online as they’re out of print now. But I honestly loved this book so much. Abebooks is the best place to look for what I suspect are the cheapest prices.
This is currently my favorite book. And I don't even like science fiction. Here's what makes it my favorite: This is so well written and hilarious and poignant all at the same time. It gives us a view of the USA in a modern dystopian society when animals are put on the same level as people are when it comes to moral value. The love story in this is also very edifying. So much use of malapropism makes this book worth the read. It's a long one, but definitely well worth the time and effort that it will take you to finish it.
