I enjoyed never say never. The ladies in this book were in real life situations. One woman who are in their prime with no kids who wants kids before they turn a certain age. However, they have a no good as man who does not need to be anybody baby daddy. Another woman who man cheated on her and hurt her to the core. He does the unexpected to get back in her good graces. Find out would it be good enough. A young lady who is very beautiful but her man tears he down every chance she gets by comparing her to other people. Going through emotions like being involved in a relationship knowing another relationship would be better. You know the things that some of us woman will do to keep a man or in some case keep a good man away.
Find out what happens in the relationships of these woman. I enjoyed their ride.
I wasn't sure where this story was heading in the beginning, but as time went on, I really got to know these characters and become invested in their decisions and consequences. I really enjoyed it and would read another book by this author.
Boring. Don't know how/ why this book got such high ratings. I'm about 50% thru the book and I'm just not interested. I don't care about the characters or the storyline. Maybe I'm just not in the mood to read this book. 😕
This is a story of three friends and all of the drama and man troubles that they are having.
Ressa wants to have a baby before she is 35. She is with Simon but he is just an asshole. She is afraid of being alone. She just gets tired of his shit and tells him to pack and get out. They end up together again but then he says (p92) "Shit, other than you paying my bills, the only thing you really been good for is fucking. And you ain't even the bomb at that. That's why I get straightened out every now and then by Cecilia." On page 115 she was talking about shaking her rear end to "Just Got Paid" by Johnny Kemp. (I remember that song and love that song!).
Erica is looking for a man. She hooked up with Dominic, he had a body but he was terrible in bed. He claimed to be a little rusty but Erica told him (P23)"A little rusty? Please, your shit is broken. Now get the fuck off me." Then Kenny came back around. Kenny was in her life before, but he cheated on her and had a baby with another woman and she wants nothing to do with him. While they were apart, he wrote a book dedicated to her. He will not give up until he has her back.
Carmen is with Anthony and he is just a pig. He wanted her to dye her hair blonde to look like Shakira and he told her that she was not at fine as Shakira was. He even went so far as to book her an appointment at the salon! She couldn't believe it and said (P37) "Hell no, I won't chill out! How would you like it if I pulled some shit like this? How would you like it if I said, 'Anthony, I think your dick is too small. Here's an appointment card to go and get it enlarged so you can be just as big as my ex!" Carmen ends up spending a lot of time with her co-worker Jordan. Jordan likes a lot of the same things that she does such as salsa music and books. Anthony's mom is so mean to Carmen and he never sticks up for her.
You will have to read this book to see how their lives end up. I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end and I was so hooked. I am still amazed at how great of a job Dwayne writes from a woman's point of view and makes the characters come alive! I had to stay up late and finish this book to see how everyone's lives turned out. Those men in this book really pissed me off sometimes! He is right "Never say Never"!
Carmen, a Latina firecracker, is stuck between a rock and a hard place. With a male chauvinist mama's boy as a man her decision to leave is not hard. Or is it? How can she decide if loving Anthony is wrong or right?
Erica is an independent black woman who will not stop to let her friends know that worrying about a no good man is not worth it. She is on top of her game and will not let a lazy loser get in the way of what she has worked so hard for. Not even the love of her life. Kenny will not come back into her life and turn the world she has built for herself upside down.
Reesa has dealt with Simon far too long. Between the baby mama drama and his lack of employment, Reesa has had enough. Will her lifelong dreams keep her from leaving the man that can make her wish she never met him?
Sometimes you need a friend to lean on when times get rough and a friend to tell you the truth when you don't want to hear it. These three friends will learn that love comes at no expense.
This book really had me on edge I was so anxious to find out how the book ended I just couldn't put it down! The author is one of my favorites! I wish Carmen and Jordan would have at least found common ground as friends instead of ending it the way they did! But that just shows real life drama and how there is always going to be a time when you hit rock bottom, but you have to be willing to learn from your mistakes or be punished by your future for going through it again! And just like Reesa, sometimes it takes us ladies longer to let go but boy when we do.... that's something thats worth celebrating! You realize how strong you are once you've gone through things like these 4 ladies have!!
A very good book!!! If you haven't read it PLEASE DO!!
Been in search for happiness trying to find someone trying to make your life complete?
Reesa- have you ever needed something so bad, you can't sleep at night? Happiness.
Erica- have you ever loved somebody so much, it makes you cry? Love.
Carmen- have you ever found the one you've dreamed of all of your life? Destiny.
Never Say Never is a story about three women besieged with the exactness about life as they know it. Mistakes are made. Allowing each one of them to discover those well needed lessons. The story is too drawn out at times. It's an okay read with members of Womanizers making guest appearances.
Mr. Joseph's writing and depiction of these ladies and their issues were so vivid and accurately related, it was as if he transcribed a girlfriends' gabfest/pity party and published it. Looking forward to reading all of his titles.
This book addressed real issues for women. It displayed the power of sisterhood and the power of words of affirmation. I'm pleasantly surprised by this read.
