An older book by an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker, written in 1970. There are several chapters on preparing for the hike, ( what pack to get, boots to wear etc) chapters on the hike itself, and appendices on flowers, animals, birds and trees that one would see on the hike. I would like to see this book updated, as it covered just about everything! However, it wasn't as much fun to read as some that were strictly memoirs.
Ed sold me a pair of hiking shoes as I was headed off to camp in 198,1 and autographed a copy of his book for me. Little did I know what it would lead to.
