A great book if you want inspiration for your own projects, there are plenty of pointers and helpful hints.

Jan Messent's work is stunning and I would have liked a few more photographic examples of her work to look at but that is my only criticism really. The piece featured on the front of the book of woodland creatures is simply beautiful in its level of detail and subtlety. Sublime. What a talent.

Jann Messent is a master with a needle. (Way outside the box of traditional embroidery, while still honoring it.)
This book is especially resourceful because includes many very accessible methods of encouraging one's imagination and putting ideas into a usable tool bench of sorts.
Chapter 1 "Word Associations" really spoke to me, as did Chapter 3 "Constructions" with the idea of working in units.

I really enjoyed this book and found it very exciting as the work is not only Jan Messents work but other talented embroiderers as well.
