Lots of great history of the cocktail in New Orleans. Classic recipes and techniques.

A fun book of cocktails written with the swagger of an early 20th century newspaper man. Sort of like if the listless, fun-loving boyfriend character in a Raymond Chandler novel wrote a cocktail book. It has a fast-talking, good ol' boy feel that you will either find charming or will irritate the hell out of you. Regardless there is good, albeit maybe apocryphal, history in here. The recipes themselves are pretty great. Very straight forward and simple, of a different time before mixology or any of that. I really liked the classic New Orleans recipes like the Sezerac.
