Confessions of a Coffee Bean opens with the fascinating history of coffee and details the bean’s epic journey from crop to cup. It then describes the evolution of the coffeehouse, highlights surprising facts about coffee and your health, and introduces the most enticing coffees available today. Rounding out the book is a tempting collection of recipes for coffee beverages, as well as desserts and treats that celebrate the very taste that is coffee.
I gave it 4 stars because it had good recipes included. If not for that it would be a solid 3 star. While good it misses one fascinating aspect of coffee. And that is the Swedish coffee culture of Fika. Why is this consistently overlooked by coffee connoisseurs?
A very nice, simple version of the history of coffee and coffeehouses and all the information you need to identify coffee types, roasts, countries where it grows, and what all those funny sounding names of coffee drinks mean. Includes a nice grouping of recipes for coffee drinks and sweets of accompany your drink. I don't thing I would call it "the complete guide" however, rather I found it to be a "quick and easy guide" to the world of coffee.
