Framed for the murder of his fiance+a7e, New York City cop Bobby Emmet pursues personal suspicions, only to discover that the woman he was to marry was not who she seemed and that high-level corruption is putting his life, as well as his freedom, at stake. Reprint.
I got this book on the "cheap" and wasn't expecting much out of it. I had never read Denis Hamill before and haven't run across any of his work since, but I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I've read my share of cop novels and this is one of my favorites! Gritty, believable characters, a good story, and a great pace.
If Mr. Hamill writes more of these type books, I'll be there with bells on.
Slightly above average mystery/thriller regarding crooked cops and the 3/4 pension scam, taken down by the hero. A cop wrongfully put away for the crime he didn't commit (murdering his second wife) with the help of a schmuck and scheister of a lawyer and his go-get-em 14 year old daughter. A few memorable laughs, decent action, but overall not that unique.
