Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
Someone told me this was the "Old Testament" of angling literature and I think that's a pretty apt description. Fascinating in some parts, dull in others. With plenty of time-honored, fundamental truths undeniably scattered throughout but also lengthy sections - mostly about equipment - that are now completely outdated though still valuable from a historical perspective. Overall, very well written with lots of great stories and even a fair amount of humor mixed in. Deserving of its status as a 'classic' IMHO.
This is a great old time Trout Fishing Book. The author is a well known angler and writer. He wrote the fishing column for Outdoor Life Magazine for many years. A feature of this book is the colorful illustrations. Plates of dry, wet and streamer flies are a colorful addition to this book. Ray is a great writer and can help any of us anglers to improve our technique and enjoyment in the outdoors when fishing.
