I won't go into the history of linux here. I just like being able to run on a computer on something that doesn't have all of the Windows annoyances going on. I also like not having to pay hundreds of dollars for an operating system, just to have it spy on you and disable functionality, but you won't know that unless you read the legalese fine print.
