The Outer Banks. Wide, solitary beaches. Windswept sand. Breathtaking sunsets over the Sound. A perfect place for a couple to live out their days. Except when for one of them, those days are numbered. When Tom Ralston’s wife dies unexpectedly, he finds himself feeling trapped in Sandy Cove, the idyllic Outer Banks village in which they had planned to spend the rest of their lives together. Unable to function and unable to move on, Tom runs away from everyone and everything in his life, traveling the world in search of solace. But he is searching in the wrong place. When Tom returns to Sandy Cove he realizes that it is time to let go of his past and move on with his life, and he begins working to reestablish his friendships and to repair the relationships he neglected during his sojourn. Sandy Cove is a story of what was and what will be, a story of the innocence of a childhood friendship and of the anguish of adult heartbreak. A story of love and of loss, of hope and of redemption, and of lifelong friendship rekindled.

I got totally bogged down in lengthy passages describing the protagonist and possible love interest's thoughts, reactions, feelings. The premise is good: a wife dies of cancer, will there be any future life or love interest for the husband. The setting is good, one of eastern barrier islands. But page after page of description of feelings with little dialogue and weak plot left we limp with frustration. Sory Steven.

Sandy cove was a neat story

Sadness mixed with happiness well melded in this book. What began with terrible sadness ended with content. I am happy I read it. When Sarah and Joe ended there was more for him to enjoy. Good story well written

This is a good summer read if you really like to delve deep into characters and emotions. Some people will think it morose but I really enjoyed learning how one person effects so many in different ways and how each deals with it. It's normal people with normal life lessons set in a beautifully drawn shore destination that makes u long for more time at the beach. I will look for this author in the future.

Never had a book make me want to yell at it as much as this one because he didn't use an editor, spellchecker or even a fifth grader proofread it! How does a grown man get a book published without knowing the difference between "wave" and "waive"? I think he used "wave" correctly only once. There were so many errors in this book with not only spelling but punctuation, sentence structure and wrong words also.

The story was predictable and only so-so. Maybe I'm being generous with 2 stars.

This was another easy read. I haven't read this author before. It was a free download to my kindle so I gave it a try. I liked how the story was told from different time periods. Will read more!
